Not really this is pretty common, not every game goes live the exact second the countdown timer goes off, even AAA games have a few hours to a full day after the countdown timer runs out before they unlock. Nothing new.

Either he screwed up or was screwed up by whatever, the result is still the same, the final update for a proper ending is still not out.
