I wouldn't have known the specific details but I had assumed it was linked to military service.
Yep. Samuel, Shirley's dad was a Navy Seal back in the day. It was hinted at when you first meet Shirley. She's wearing a Navy Seal shirt and when the girls are watching a movie at Shirley's house three's a Navy Seal flag on the wall. Because Samuel has a part in the new update I'm just confirming everything. The backstory I have planned is that Shirley's mom Hailey was a translator for Samuel's Seal Team. We also get the full history of Patrick, the MC's dad.

As much as I enjoy scantily clad (or completely unclad) tomboys, I also appreciate a good story. Glad to see we'll be getting more of that in the process.

The one in the top pic the building looks like something in the ghetto with all the spraypaint.

I went outside for a good while yesterday. Apparently the leaves are starting to change colors. This is somewhat early where I live. View attachment 5313325
I think you said you're in a Gulf Coast state before. I think we've had it mild all summer - can't recall if there was an actual "official" 100F day in the Houston area this year, but we had a dozen or two of them last summer. We're pretty mild now, too, so I'm not surprised if things are changing a little earlier this year. At the same time, I saw where upper Midwest and PNW were a bit warmer than normal. Was talking with some other folks about it and we seem to have had a jetstream shift this year that kept the Southern US cooler and warmed the Northern US a bit more. Not unusual, just gets more attention these days when everybody that goes a little warmer starts screaming about everyone needing to buy electric cars or we're all gonna die.
