There's debug button, which toggles them (though some functions, once turned on, persists until disabled). Other than battle-triggering cheat, you access them by opening "skills" menu and finding there the "debug" sub-menu.
Amongst other things, you can:
- Increase or decrease your level.
- Increase or decrease ally's level, or make it match your level (accessible from battle-triggering menu, but seems to persist outside of it).
- Get infinite skill points.
- Get infinite money.
- Get free experience for passives.
- Max out all abilities.
- Trigger battle any time with chosen settings.
- Make allies and/or enemies controllable, allow to pick enemy actions in battle. Can make main character computer-controlled if you wish, too.
- "Easy treasure" function makes treasures trigger every time you explore; turn it off if you want to actually start encountering enemies.
- Change your equipment at any time.
- Maybe there's more, I didn't bother to check.

Trying to find the last Enchanted Thread is highly annoying. Keep trying to find it in areas where it is supposedly found. Nothing. I go to the roving merchant and doesn't seem to stock it any longer.
On the plus side, I've opened about 1000 chests seemingly and no Mimics. Did they take them out of the game or am I just getting lucky RNG rolls?
Edit: Finally found an Enchanted Thread in the roving store after many an attempt. Still can't find any in chests, unless they are numbered and can't be found any longer in the wild.

they are numbered, if you have the treasure finder, you can see on the bottom left the chests lefts, infinite symbol near the chest means it's infinite, otherwise you'll get a count of how many chests of that type are left, enchanted thread can only be found in counted chests, not infinite ones, and the loot is predefined, as in you'll always have x amount in the game

frost village area, need an inferno core thingy from where you got the first one, not sure how you trigger the second encounter, might be with spirit stone? that's how I got the second one, but not sure spirit stone is required

Bottom of the screen next to the q.save, q.load, prefs... you will see a small Debug button. Click on it. Then you will see a programmed Battle button to do custom battles. Also if you go into Skills you will see a Debug tab that can give you unlimited money, health, skill points, set CPU Player to have game AI battle for you, allow PC play as an enemy, etc...

It may be one of those things that is going to be implemented later. Kinda like the Magic Beans were from the previous version and were used in this version of the game.
I might be wrong, but on their web site they make it sound as if the mac version was also updated on patreon. Can someone confirm or infirm?
With the mod to increase chests drops, the amount is actually good, the xp multiplier is too large tho

Pretty sure it's a future side quest, just like the beans you used to get there.
I think it's going to be something like the chain quest in Ocarina of Time.
