A lot of guys seem to identify with Dan and want him to leave and Sarah to face comeuppance. I guess why I love this story is I identity with Lester.
I don't hate dan , I just find Lester more interesting . Emotionally he is an opposite of me so I'm more interested in reading his thought process. Personally I would like a Mexican standoff style ticking time bomb ending where there is an uneasy truce between three of them, with nobody getting an upperhand, but them still deciding to continue their toxic dynamic as they are attracted to it *tumbleweeds*...... Or not. I'm fine with wherever the ride is taking me, except for the humiliate Sarah situations, not a fan of that.
One of my favorite line from the series is Sarah's description of herself: "The loving mother, the devoted wife, the stellar daughter, the badass professional, Lester’s slut… " I always thought that's gonna be HER happy ending.
Yeah, I get lester more, I'm married but would never give up the alpha placing...I like the fiction of seeing someone like Dan displaced and like the fiction of betrayal (not real life), but I just can't identify with the idea of watching while some else fucks your wife...nothing there for me, I guess. I have a hard time believing a Mexican stand off with this love triangle will happen. The dynamics has shifted lately with Dan being more of an observer to their affair. Dan could have put his foot down, “manned up“ to Lester and ending the affair. He chose not too and now I question if Sarah still wears the wedding band as she continues to wander away from Dan. Lester has become her outlet for happiness.
Lester is relatable as he’s not the smooth talking actor/model or superstar athlete who can choose anyone he wants. Lester is the complete opposite probably a loner who was bullied. I’m sure Dan will learn a valuable lesson which he will take into his next relationship as this current marriage is toast.
