I think knocking them down quickly and then moving away would be the best plan. So club, bat, mop handle anything you can use to push them over.
ideally pack leader would have a spear, for long range defenses while scouting, so when anyone is ambushed, or something approaches they have the reach advantage, leaving the 2nd strongest person in the pack with the bat, and the weakest person in the pack with the axe. The reason a spear would be so overpoweredly strong in this situation too is mainly because the burned ones, seem to discharge a chemical reaction that just completely destroy a person. So a spear would actually be insanely good, even a pipe, just something that would keep the attacker at a length while doing damage, the burned ones dont seem to take pain very well, considering how easy a fire axe put them down.

Back in the classroom, there was a writing on the board about a witch, we haven't officially seen her, but we saw a female figure previously that could be it, although this is speculation on my part.
This was my guess that is the "Witch" when MC looks outside from the building in the update prior to the last, he see's a few burned ones outside, but theres this one that stands out very.... strangely. She looks at best fresh turned, at worst "Special" Going off what we know from the classroom, its been 21 days since Macy got separated, Shelley was with them in the dorms, but everything went to hell and her friends decided to take a trip for help leaving Shelley behind, Then while going for help, Macy got separated for some reason or another and locked herself up and wrote the messages on the board. Its been roughly 25 days since the very start of the pandemic. Leaving a high possibility that it was not a freshly turned woman. Whoever that is outside looks like they're gesturing like they're welcoming or beckoning something. So my theory is, that may be our neighborhood "Witch" :KEK:
Sadly our best shot at answers just ended up as a grill fried patty though.

*scoff* Excuse me, but it's an epidemic, not a pandemic. Jokes out of the way, dude, it's a fire axe. Of course they're going to go down easily. You're super right about why the spear's good, but why do you think only *one* of them should have one? That doesn't make sense since that just leaves the other three open to the discharge that we've well established they very much don't want to get hit by. As for the Witch, yeah it's a good shot that one's her, since it's clearly wearing female clothes and it's visually different from the other Burned One's we've seen in the fog.

A weak person couldn't use a bat even less so, thats why they get an axe. Atleast it has somewhat of an edge to help push along the blunt force trauma, where a bat, needs more power to inflict blunt force trauma.

idk if you messed around in school with rulers for example, if someone hit you with the flat side of a ruler, it didnt hurt that much, but if they hit you with the side of a ruler, it hurt like ever-loving-hell cause it was formed into an edge. ofcourse they werent sharp, and fireman axe's arent that sharp either, but still have an edge on them mainly why i'd put it with the weaker person, it helps make up for them being weaker to inflict damage.

Outside it would be reasonable for everyone to hold a spear, but then it would burden them down, and also take more time to switch from weapon to weapon in the heat of a moment, since visibility is almost always at a constant low point. So thats why I would have my short range fighters behind my longer range fighter that is scouting, Spear would stop gap closers, while the bat/axe would be a close quarter defense. Other than outside, well having 4 spears would just be awkward like in the school building, if they got ambushed because the cooridors are alot tighter it would make worse for large weapons :KEK:
Would be great to set up a line defense tho at the end of a hall though.

To be honest, I'd look for a desk leg and make stakes too, kind of similar to how Darrel uses his crossbow bolts to stab zombies in the walking dead. I would carve out some stakes and use them for when I get grabbed to have a quick belt item to stab them in the head with too. Food for thought :D

Poles maybe, not spears. He’ll big brooms with the bristles removed would be great. The goal should be to knock them back, turn them around, knock them over etc. They are not fast, or coordinated, they are not particularly strong, they don’t see or hear well. They do not work together and they seem easily misdirected or confused. They are dangerous because of the camouflage and the spray. Cutting them open seems to increase your exposure to the chemicals. Just keep them out of your way and try to prevent ambush.

Yeah I mean I would go for a wooden broom myself to make a spear out of, but ideally yeah, the only reason I like my formation is due to them being "ambushers" while dealing with the one infront, there could potentially be one lurking. They dont coordinate you're absolutely right, but accidental coordination still a factor. I still think I'd prefer to kill them though over just knocking them away even with the risks just because it stops them from discharging anywhere near people. Quick stab in the face, and move on. But this comes down to preference mostly heh.

guns would be nice wouldn't they? All the range you need. Might bring more though.

speaking of I wonder when we'll meet gun waifu, cause we've heard a gun multiple times in the game, but havent found the person behind it yet and its likely gonna be a woman haha.
Having a single gun in the group for worst case scenario will probably start moving things along quite nicely in the story. Unless the mutant variants that we're being hinted towards are actually crazy.

I could be wrong but judging by how ILS does stuff, I doubt its just random people shooting, its probably a singular character.

A gun would be fantastic. Now if only our characters would move into areas that would actually have them lol. And ammo. Can't forget that.
In my personal emergency kit I don’t have guns but I do have a few high quality slingshots. They are light, small, powerful, silent and you never run out of ammunition.

nah, I want the flat front on the broom. Remember if you stab you have to unstab to keep your weapon. If it sticks you may Have to get close or abandon it. I’m not worried about killing them. If there were only a few and you were staying in a specific spot for awhile sure but there are too many. I just want to get past them and move on. If you knock them down they won’t catch up.

Could be, but then it's Murica and the MC mentioned that there are a lot of guns in this city.
Also we took a drive with the car since we heard the shots...so could be a unrelated person as well, or maybe she catched up as they sit in the dorm.

I mean, a gun would be nice no question, but fighting is not their main problem (at least not yet), food is and moving through the fog (ideally with enough of supplies).
So far, whenever they got hurt it was because they were ambushed, even with a gun i doubt the result would have been different.

The hospital is an interesting plot point to me. One of the original reasons we were going there is that's where Kallie's fiance is supposed to be, but even she doesn't seem concerned about that. Does anyone playing this, at this point, think that he's going to be there or that the hospital will be - in any way - a safe spot? To me it seems like going to the hospital in a zombie movie - it's probably the least safe spot to be, and not an evacuation point (helipad or no helipad).

I think there is potential to meet one of husbands later on, kinda too good of an opportunity for conflict to miss (both action and romance wise)

I don't think we're going to meet Laura's guy. It's possible but unless she's completely wrong about what kind of guy he is and he is out searching for her, he's safe at home watching the news. Kallie's fiance maybe but that could go a number of ways. Maybe he's leading some kind of survivor group at the hospital and is sitting there with a harem waiting to take control of her again. Maybe he's there, but dead - which would slingshot her arc forward really fast or maybe he just bailed at the first opportunity without giving her a second thought. The hospital itself just seems like an increasingly bad idea. They haven't seen/heard a single helicopter so it's not likely there are active evacuations going on and when the fog first hit it would have been the place where they brought the sick and injured (until it overflowed). If the Burned Ones (not keen on that name but whatever) are people who were overexposed to the fog, the hospital is going to be crawling with them and the air inside and out is going to be a toxic cloud (from them bumping into each other and spraying). I wish we knew more about this city - the characters obviously do but we do not.

yeah you're probably right about Laura... as for the rest, anything could happen. But MC did see a helicopter in the last update. At least the lights of it.
