I don't know what exactly you are saying. Are you saying you have never played with a mod, on any version. You saved the game from a previous version (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) with no mod, and tried to load it on 6 (with no mod), and it didn't load the save? As for hitting shift, you have to enable skip "Unseen Text" in the options for the shift skip to work. I don't know if it is on by default (I always enable it, so I don't know what it was like by default).

So I play with URM since v0.01 and Zemax mod wasn't even available in v0.02 that MagicShoppe says it was the last one that they played, so what mod? Stop blaming mods, better blame users that are careless when using them, I even put Zemax mod in v0.04 and played v0.05 without it loading a "modded" save of 0.04 and no issues. Zemax made the mod in a way that doesnt overwrite any critical game files what prevents most issues with saves from a modded game.

I advise you before start a game from scratch and since your saves don't work anyway to delete the save folders, one from the game install itself and the other one the back up from the system drive C:/users/(your user name)/appdata/roaming/RenPy and in that folder find the TOXICity folder and delete it. I suspect that your issue is related with the persistent data file, better to rid of it and when run the game will create a default persistent file, you only lose the option settings you had and gallery entries and achievements if you had any.

I deleted the persistent file and restarted with "Start". I still get the error screen. (When I say "rollback screen" (not "rollback error") I mean the screen where it asks if you want to rollback or ignore. Neither does me much good.)

Did you delete also the backup persistent file from the appdata like I mentioned before? If so is very weird, my game and I guess most people here work fine. Dunno try to download the game from another uploader, maybe you have a corrupted zip file.

Did you use a mod previously? The code is pretty straight forward. It checks if you had sex in chapter 5, and asks the question if you want to do it again in ch6. Only way it wouldn't skip that question is if the variable was set to "no".

Never used a mod, downloaded the game normally and this was my first playthrough didn't mess with any game files or used any mods

Picked Start. Default name. Picked agree with laura, (forget the second choice), said laura saw smoke. click. Crash to desktop. No traceback file.
Start the game again, no save so picked Start, Hit enter for MC name, crash to desktop, no traceback file.
Start the game again, no save so picked Start, hit enter for MC name, click, click, crash to desktop, traceback file (same as above, can't bool not callable.)

I was playing Cosy Cafe earlier today. Not a single issue. But, Cosy Cafe uses ren'py 8.3.2. Not the old one toxicity uses.

I don't expect to find an answer here. I was going to suspect windows but cosy cafe worked. I might reboot anyway.

Dang it, did I say to skip to 0.06? I said to skip until the point you stopped playing in 0.02. Maybe I explained poorly but I think not, it was implied.

The version of Renpy has nothing to do with the error you are facing and I'm also using windows 11. No tracback file but did it create a log file? Sometimes it does on crashes.

Ok then have no idea if you delete both persistent files and still doesn't work. I also played Cozy Cafe (yesterday) btw but that one barely has variables since is kinetic.

You already said in one of the previous comments that you had this problem with other games too, so I suppose the problem is with your PC. Have you tried the simplest solutions, like running the game as administrator, removing the "read-only" attribute, and things like that?

The problem I referred to was there being no ability to skip without turning on unseen skip. Toxicity is the only game where it crashes every few interactions. I downloaded Artemis, for example, and I loaded an older save to revisit a few old scenes and I couldn't skip without turning on unseen skip.

I would never run a renpy game as administrator, not that the standard user account is any safer, granted. And why would it need administrator? Where would this read-only file be? I have been a windows programmer for 30 years. I think I know my way around the system.

That link is interesting. I do Daz renders constantly on my machine. My NVIDIA drivers are up to date. But I'll give that a try.

Also, I ran the 32-bit version of the game without any errors. As an alternative solution. I'm going to try changing the render engine and use the 64-bit version again.

What is weird from the traceback you posted is that I have no idea what is being called, isn't a boolean a True/False variable? Well my coding knowledge is very limited to not say almost zero hehe. I can read and understand most what URM shows to me on path and choices detected though.

The error implies a value is set to false that is supposed to be function pointer. But it's buried deep in the interaction code. The line of code (line 45) is renpy.pause(). It isn't even doing anything. It's just waiting for a mouse click. Crazy.

I liked the previous game The Interim Domain but this one in my opinion is way better. I'm guessing at least one more woman so MC and 4 "mini-Harem " I like the smaller cast get to know the girls better. Happy the monsters have a name now. Looking forward to the next update!

Hehe I guess I'm a big fan of ILS Productions storytelling since Now&Then and then The Interim Domain also is amazing (played them first back to back until around version low 20ish of TID since it was what was done by then), so I was eager to play when they released TOXICity. Here since v0.01, more fun to see the game grow since inception.

I loved Now & Then.
