I'm a big fan of the dev's work and I am enjoying how the TOXICity tale is being told.
Small cast and the world feels a bit claustrophobic because, with that deadly fog - it is.
I think Kinderfeld has gotten better with his story telling and TOXICity is benefiting from this.
I actually like Both of the previous AVNs - N&T as well as TID.
N&T in particular, resonated with me as it is the only AVN that made me feel like I was in a Stephen King story And it was part of the 'company' I kept while I was traveling all throughout the COVID pandemic.
Imagine being in Boston Logan (or any major city's) airport at 10 AM on a friday morning and you can see less than a dozen people while looking across a closed food court and down two different one hundred yard plus concourses.
It was fly in, eat food in your hotel room, go to work, eat food in your hotel room, N&T and a few Steam games to relax in said hotel room, sleep, repeat, fly out - contact with other people was dangerous so limit it wherever possible.
The 'big' world became very small.
N&T gave me the same feeling - the big world no longer mattered, just the small, nearby parts that gave enough food, shelter and security for the MC and company to survive and - contact with anyone the MC did not know was dangerous and to be avoided.
N&T gave a pervasive sense of the fall of civilization due to a pandemic, and I enjoyed the story of an everyman trying to save a very small slice of his old world. It has holes in it, but so does every AVN I've played.
For me, I was more interested in enjoying the story and I tend to be forgiving with those holes in any AVN when I enjoy the larger story and the way it is being told; the holes did not break my immersion and that was enough for me.
With TOXICity,
we are still finding out how pervasive the fog is, and some of us are leaning towards the fog turning those too long exposed into burned ones.
We have limited information and can only depend on our small and emotionally battered group of survivors.
I thought Laura's break downs and the way they played out were very well done.
I like how Kallie has come more into her own; she is showing important signs of personal growth and a desire to communicate with the MC and look out for him as well.
Shelley is a wildcard, and those empty med bottles add to the sense that we can't predict When she will react in a bad way that puts the group in more danger.
I think John needs to find a big roll of duct tape because that and some bubble gum are the missing pieces to help him keep the group together while preventing another episode of someone going off the rails and endangering the group.
I look for AVNs that invite me into their world and give me the ability to get immersed in the journey of their characters; IMO, Kinderfeld has delivered with all three of his AVNs.
Cheers!!
