Still a chance that garage girl is MCs ex. Thats may be why she let them go (without looting them - she could have demanded them to give up their backpacks for example...) and even helped them...
Speaking of the garage... can I please live (without the mist, ofc) where gasoline only costs as much as in this city?

Without things like cellphones, you'd expect this to be set in the 1960s or something.

The Interim Domain is depressing. And dull.
Never played it. I didn't like the sound of the overview, doesn't seem like a story i'd enjoy so haven't touched it. Can't comment on how depressing it is. Haven't played the other one either, N&T.

This one gave me a Mist and Silent Hill vibe and I love those.

Bleak is probably a better word than depressing. Nothing good is going on and while they probably aren't going to die it's hardly a happy story. I'm enjoying it for the most part, still think they do far too much dumb shit I personally wouldn't do but c'est la vie.

It's similar to this, but less fog and more zombies. Also more unaffected people than we've seen in this one so far. In some ways it feels like an earlier attempt at this, but it's completed - and lots longer. :)
If you're liking this one I'd give N&T a go at some point. (y)
I always compare Toxicity with Silent Hill while N&T would be more like Resident Evil.

I did laugh when they casually walk by an abandoned car in the fog, lamenting how it probably won't work and isn't worth the effort to even try getting into or starting it, and it's a goddamn fuckin' Audi R8 supercar.

Yeah, I noticed that. At least it's not Hollywood blowing up a Bugatti or Pagani "for the film".

I assumed so. But still, an odd juxtaposition.
Well, Marisa was the scion of an ultrarich family, right? And MC was decidedly not...

But I thought MC drove his stepdad's Mustang in TID - am I remembering something wrong?

Haven't played the other one either, N&T.
N&T is a masterclass of a novel in this field, its just so impeccably well made. It's a bit dated nowadays, but if you want a genuinely good apocalypse/post apoc story its fantastic. ILS really set the bar with that one. Nothing has even came remotely close to that in terms of flat out writing for me. Granted there are still REALLY good ones out there that make up in other departments but N&T has just such a raw authentic feel to it that ILS really loves to deliver, even with Toxicity, he can really make everyone seem human. Like if you meta-read the stories, how the writing comes off is a bit cringe, but its not exaggerated, over the top, or overbearing in any way, like when mc says "a sexy little number like you" sure it sounds cringe outside the scope, but its pretty spot on for the character & personality. The only turn off for some people with N&T would be that he adopted someone after his wife died she was i think she was a teenager, and she harbored feelings for him as time went on. Double edged sword cause also a turn on for people lol. But the main draw of N&T is literally the title "Now = post apocalypse" "Then = Pre-apocalypse"

I'm definitely a huge fan :KEK:

I'll deff be giving it a go.

The only reason I didn't play it before is i've got hooked on zombie/apocalypse games before and they ended up getting abandoned so I try not to get my hopes up. I dived on this because Mist is one of my fave Stephen King stories (film was okay too).

I didn't realise it was already completed so I will have to jump on that.

I do enjoy the writing in this. Like i've said, I think some of the decisions they make are stupid and not ones i'd personally make but objectively speaking it's a well made game.

I do love a bit of horror and suspense.

Let em'. Blowing up a Honda Accord or Toyota Corolla is a tragedy, since they're affordable and reliable workhorses people can actually obtain and use. But hypercars are toys for people who have more money than sense, and certainly don't need. So yeah, blow up those bourgeois status symbols all day; they can afford it.

Also the best Fast & Furious movie was the first one, when they were stealing VCR's with clapped out Honda Civics.

It's bad enough that money gets wasted making cars that are pointlessly extreme rather than actually usable more than twice by some rich person. It just heaps on the waste by destroying them as well. I already hate the wasted resources for making that type of thing; I hate it twice as much that the waste then gets compounded. :cautious:

Well, who would even 'waste' money actually destroying them? Either you're using CGI and nothing actually got destroyed, or you're wrecking a CGI-enhanced facsimile. Nobody is actually totaling a functional Pagani; at most you're smashing up a Pagani-looking shell that's missing 95% of the internals. We're long past the Dukes of Hazard and their cavalcade of disposable 1969 Dodge Chargers (and even then, the ones they wrecked in stunts were not the pristine condition ones they used for close ups).

The closest I'll ever get to seeing a Zonda is watching one fly off the track in Forza Horizon, while I sit there laughing in my clapped out off-road rally racing AWD Datsun 240Z monstrosity (while lamenting that they'll never add proper motorcycles).

I think at least some of that is the witches' mindfuckery - but that's just speculation at this point...
I was on the same wavelength with that, but I think the witch only affects men, its speculation too, but just a hunch. I think the idea is to lure men to her, so she can turn them into burned ones, which if there IS multiple witches and the females do turn into witches primarily then it would make sense, since they just jet them as they get close with their human-like appearance and turn them. Especially considering the ratio of regular turned burned ones vs witches.

However the collar definitely makes me think its a "experiment gone wrong" kinda deal, so idk. Unless its just some flare ILS threw in there lol. We can say the influence of the witch on Kallie is due to her seeing it the first time, just a genuine fear-related nightmare, easy to write off (could be a red-herring that she had the nightmare the same night that she showed up at the gym). Laura's because she's empathetic and motherly so she wants to "save everyone." again kinda easy to write off. Whereas Shelley is in the most chaotic emotional state so she would be the easiest primarily to breach with some witchy-mental powers. Yet nothings really came of it so far.

But, idk depends what you see as bad decisions, personally I think its only Laura, and its just her 'control' factor, if anything. Definitely her toxic trait, she needs to be running the show even when she foregoes a leadership position, she still makes her own decisions and does what she wants to do, even against the group, also the first to mentally snap because of that constant pressure she places on herself to be the one doing everything. She just doesn't know how to take a back seat.
