Wait, Gargoyle has been getting updates? I haven't used it in years. O_O
So if you're trying to get something via debug commands and it asks "which did you mean" and gives you a whole list of things to pick from, how do you actually specify? Some things seem to have a unique enough name to be accepted immediately but if it's asking me this question after typing out the entire name of the item/event what do you do? I've tried all the (), [], "" options that I would normally expect but none of them seem to work.
Just type the shortened name (2 to 4 letters) or number in parenthesis as is, no punctuation or special characters needed.

Shortened name don't always work. There are still quite a lot of items that have basically the same name and item code.
These days it is done more with items the player shouldn't have at all but there are still a whole bunch from the early days of the game.
A good example would be

I was checking out the various predicaments and the problem is that a number of the predicaments trigger the whole list of options. But then few to none of the options have anything in the (). I know how to select them if it does have something in those () but what if it doesn't? For instance the one that I was attempting to check out was the smoothie-predicament and then it pops up did you mean smoothie-predicament or smoothie predicament apron? But that's it. Neither have anything in (). You can directly get the apron because if you type out the entire smoothie-predicament apron it's a longer and thus unique option, but that doesn't help you access the predicament event. There's a few other predicaments like this as well that have even more options.

There is an ongoing, really-difficult-to-fix issue with most cutscenes in the game, including the animated ones, where if two turns happen in a row (e.g. because you tripped and tried to stand up, or you just moved extra- slowly because of movement penalties), and the cutscene was triggered by the first of those two turns, then the second turn comes along and tells the game to reset its bucket of cutscenes to show the player. It's mainly to do with how the 'location window' (the graphics window at the bottom) is coded.
Anyway, with the hypno trap, if you're really desperate to see the hypno animation, just stand there and wait another turn.
That doesn't really work if the player numbers involved are low. At that point a player has a good chance to wait until the trap shuts off and not trigger it.
You have to use the salve before a certain amount of time passes or the minimum breast size remains permanently incremented.
adding to the above reply, you can starve yourself to lose 1 size on breast/butt/hips (random) regularly, but you'll suffer the strength penalty while hungry + permanent strength loss on the 2+ consecutive starvation.
Does that also work when the game sets the new body proportions as normal?
If it doesn't you need to be in an early stage of being hungry to get the starvation trigger before the new normal. A tincture of acceleration should help, just make sure you have a friendly guard (or shopkeeper with a low enough level of cum tolerance) around to ask for a drink when that one goes into the red.
No, starting body proportions are already you new "minimum normal" so you can't reduce below that. No cheating the starting points by starving yourself, haha.
