intentionally leave out an option like that, other than to piss off your players? If it is just to piss them off...just why??? Are you making a game or not?
...But when I still went on the forums...they got weirdly defensive about it...like it was the worst fetish imaginable and ruins the game by having it.
That honestly almost sounds like something about it was very personal for them all of a sudden? Maybe something happened IRL that changed their perspective on it? But then again...why not just say something vague about it, refuse to elaborate on it further because it's personal, and move on? I mean, it's not like I haven't seen people do the weirdest things just to avoid even elluding to something, but I dunno. This sounds less like that and more like people who aren't well-adjusted socially.
Like I vaguely remember Savin's game, CoC2, having backstory/lore on one of the salamander-girls' descendants...talking about how their great-grandmother realized she was being groomed...and then they go into just saying how disgusting incest is.

not one in the same, at all. Not even remotely close. I get if they just don't like incest, but holy hell don't equate it to grooming.
...So they basically said the PC of CoC was a creepy rapist because people wanted the incest route.

...Savin pretty much agreed...and said that was the defacto canon ending for Helia/Helspawn content since there would never be any more content added to it.
So yes, they did make the one ending they hated a canon one... On top of that, they tried to copout of it by just refusing to add more content to it. Not change it, or remove it, or anything like that. No, make it a canon ending then claim it's because they won't add more. Makes total, complete sense, and I am not confused at all. lol
I also remember that "technically" anyone could write content for Helspawn...but it would be stonewalled...because of the cop out of it not reaching Savins "level of writing." ...They were just really weird when it came to incest when the understandable response would be "Yeah can't do incest 'cause of Patreon. Sucks but it is what it is."
Okay, even if it didn't reach his "level" of writing, why stonewall it entirely instead of just...rewriting it yourself, if you're really so good at writing? I mean, if you're going to take community submissions for that kind of stuff, you inherently should expect to have to completely rewrite much of what you get if you want
any of it to get into the game, no? If that's not what you're doing, I kinda feel like you're just waisting everyone's time...
It's genuinely possible they couldn't even say publically why they had to cut the content, assuming it was because of Patreon's crackdown. But it just sounds like they not only keep coming up with excuses...but also keep changing the excuses? That doesn't seem like it lines up with "We're just doing this because of Patreon" at all.
