There isn't a "best" writer because that entirely subjective. My favorite writer was JimThermic but he left years ago. I also like Non's characters like Sera but he didn't write her Holloween scene which is my favorite in the entire game. William and Wsan who I also like left TiTS. Fen is also OK but he burnt out.

That very much depends on what you want and if you vibe with the writing style. Personally, I'm a big fan of Monster Girl Dreams, but that's only if you're into monster girls, some light femdom, and a less serious tone.

My favorite text game is Flexible Survival, but it does have a learning curve when it comes to getting used how to play it (and making the interpreter/ui look better for you).
But it has years and years of content written and the majority of it isn't too extreme (there's WS, vore, some NTR but like no scat... at least I never encountered any after years of playing. Just keep in mind that it's furry based.
There's also the multiplayer MUCK version of it which has a lot of good content but it does have more focus on game mechanics since the game is MP, but that made it more engaging for me.
Although since it's a MUCK game, then it also has a learning curve in case you've never played a game like that, but it's not that bad.

For NTR you mean like in-game you get a wife/partner but then there's a written scene where someone fucks them in front of you but like you're not even participating, right?
I don't enjoy that (since like I'd rather be a part of it instead of the scene being written to make fun of me) but there are very few NPC's that you can be in a relationship with, and I'm almost positive that whenever there was the possibility of an NTR scene happening, the game gives you the option to like go with it, or not (most of the scenes in the game ask you to choose if you want to do them or not).

The likes and dislikes option is just for publicly showing your likes and dislikes but they won't actually filter anything, so just be sure to use the Tag Filter option.

When creating a character in Single Player there's an option called 'Center of Attention' or something which disables all sex between companions/allies that don't involve you.
IIRC even with that off the game will ask before those scenes happen if you want to allow them or not.

Ah, just checked the wiki, I'm all kinds of wrong. The item is non-functional, they haven't added a way to use it yet.
