Tomas is certainly tall, in modern times he would be encouraged to try for basketball, not magic.
Aye, but hypothetically speaking, considering what magic could potentially do, most magician would be either restricted somehow or be part of the armies of the world even with minimal talents.

But yeah he is taller than average person, but so are the northern masters for most parts. But there has always been tall people in the mix. Supposedly one of the Roman emperors was 255 cm, he died late 170AD forgot the exact years. Sure, the height is disputed, but then again, tales about giants (and half-giants) have come from something...

Well, a 195 cm guy in the old days would be considered a giant when everyone else is around 150 cms (around 5 feet). Now I'm sure that height was exaggerated, since the victors/leaders would write the history. He probably boasted he had a porn size penis too.

Anyway, Malgrin sets the pick and Tomas goes in for the dunk. Two points!

On the other side of the coin, Napoleon was actually average-height for a Frenchman of that era I've read.

The tallest guy known in history was Robert Wadlow 272 cm (8ft 11.1 in) according to wikipedia (1918 to 1940). The oldest known that isn't disputed was Daniel Cajanus 233 cm (7 ft 7.7 in) in 1703 to 1749. Tallest in 1700 (1760 to 1806) was 8 ft on record (also measured from his remains). So there has always been abnormally tall people. Whether the Emperor of Rome was that tall? While there is always have been boasting and always will be, it will be hard to prove either way. And problem with finding the proof will always be difficult because a lot of times those who were tall had their remains used as talismans or something similar, so they got destroyed eventually.

Aye, and in addition, it has been suggested that he was perceived to be short because he was often seen with the imperial guard (old guard), which on purpose were selected from taller males (minimum height requirement was 5 ft 8 in, Napoleon was 5ft 2 in)

Its kinda strange to imagine that I'am (6'0'') taller then those 'giant' vikings back in those days (mean measured from remains as 5'6''/172cm)...

Yup, i'm 3-4 inches too short to make the list :( The shortest wrestler appears to have been 3'7'', though, while the tallest was supposedly 7'7''. Quite the range! Biggest guy i've met IRL was 6'9'' and about 300 lbs. Dude was friggin' huge

. Those 5ft 2in were in French feet+inches, not the Imperial inches used by Americans today. He was probably closer to 5ft 6in or 5ft 7in by today's measurements.

Yes, I'm aware of the french imperial unit and modern differences, but the same french imperial units were used for the imperial guard reference just to show case his height differnce to this "elite units". Could have put 5' 6" for him and 6'+ for the soldiers but, same thing in the end.

Hello all!

I'm not happy... Been battling with a crashing issue with Daz a fairly large chunk of the day. But on positives, I mostly have a stuffy nose anymore. Anyway, I'm mostly happy about how rendering is going. I have three and half scenes left, so it will take a day or two longer than usual to get it done. Annoying but happens, the renders will take the time they take.

Writing, well writing is exactly where it should be, had a lot of inspiration to write things over the weekend. And hopefully the momentum continues, but you know I'm not concerned about the writing. And no in game render today, what I have left are major spoilers so... concept stuff and some things I've been asked about...

DMR09092024.png

So I've had a few questions about some of the concept renders I've done over the past months, and since there have been enough of them I figure that I will share the answers to rest of you since there are bound to be people who have wondered about them, just haven't asked. Mostly about these three, since the rest are more or less manifested somehow in the game by now (or will be soon). The Titan, the Goo and the Shadow elf, that's the official race name. Yes, all of them will appear in ToaM. For two I know when, the third I'm not sure yet when she will appear, or the conditions for it, but I will write it to fit the way I want once the moment is there. And those are just temporary clothes for this particular render. Although I am tempted to keep the dark elves outfit but alas, it won't fit her in the context she is to appear... ah well. Although, I do know a certain demon lord who would like that, a lot...

And while I remember, Update 0.21.0 secret: The imperial family asking for guidance.

Next is about the Sorcerer character. As same with the alien, I'm not actively developing Sorcerer (or Terminus Reach) at the moment as is. I just update the character models between renders, and those renders that have been put out have been just testing to see if there are issues with things. There are some tweaks and updates they need now that I know better. Some needs new hair, some a bit tweak in the mesh to make it work right. This way I don't have to do a mad scramble updating them when I actually need them. But then again, nothing I haven't said before but it can be missed easily in the posts.

And finally, but not the least. The orcs. I haven't forgotten them, just there needed to be time between we last saw them and their return. But the writing is starting to be at the point, time wise, that I might be able to bring them to the valley soonish. That's assuming everything has gone well. That and it needs couple variants for things. So yes, Kasha will be back way before the end...

Eh I should have made more renders but sorting the crashing ate time. Ah well, short break and back to rendering I'll go!
