Finished my very first playthrough of this game. Supposed to have played months ago, but got swamped by other things. I would say I like it a great deal more than Sorcerer. To put some context out there. I played Sorcerer a week or so ago to get a feel for the fantasy elements before playing this game. While the previous game was modern, if I didn't like how the lore was built there, chances are, I wouldn't like it in a straight fantasy setting by the same dev. As you can tell, I liked both.

Anyway, I would say the game gave a genuine sense that MC is in a perilous situation that can't be resolved easily. I was thoroughly engaged in his struggle. The cast of characters are more entertaining in this game. Love Malgrin, found "Pony" situation hilarious and Nisha is an adorable companion. As for love interests. My current favorites are Eirlys, Shani and Ayaka. All in that order. I would include Aria but I'm not sure she's a love interest and there wasn't much screen time. For reference, my favorite LIs in Sorcerer were Mei, Tamara and Maria.

That's about it. Game is great. Only problem now is the suffering until the next update arrives. Nothing too crazy though, but I'm definitely looking forward to more content in the future now.

well this and sorc differ like a night and a day, this is closer to normal fantasy game while sorc was far from it.

Sorcerer is more a urban fantasy genre. I wonder how it will evolve in sequel (giving the difference, that can be seen between TR:S 1 and 2).
As for ToaM, it is nice to see, by example of this update, how small acts of kindness are resulting in some good outcomes (as for one of first choices that were made at the start of the game).

With more troll tits...

Truth to be told, that wasn't really supposed to be seen until the end, but I got annoyed about something and decided to put some of it there now since I was heading to that direction anyway.

And that kind of changes are "easy", same with Lian and her possible demise. All I need to do is write the information she could give out to someone else, and make a dozen renders for it. Basically why Lilmina gave the information about the expedition. Are there few others like that coming? Yes a couple.

Although, that being said, some of the things what I've learned while doing TRS2 and ToaM will affect the flow of Sorcerer 2. And then some new things. Tons of ideas, just need to figure out how to actually make them, and give some ideas to a couple model makers.

Progress 03.05.2024

Hello all!

Friday, and you know what that means. A progress post.

I’m not entirely sure I’m where I’m supposed to be at the moment. Render count wise yes? Relation to the script? It’s close enough, but not quite there yet. But overall it has gone well more or less well. The difficult scene took three days to render, which is what I suspected. Granted, there is one more complex scene to do still, but it’s one of those things that should be relatively easy after the initial setups.

Writing is in a bit phase because of the difficult render, but most of the scenes are plotted so it’s just filling the gaps but more about that below. And I’m not worried about the writing as is.

Gweyr is more front in this update, but it is more natural since we are dealing with matters she knows more about than the rest. And we see bits of her personal ambitions showing, and they can be interesting depending a bit of things.

Months ago I made a test render that had a goblin stealing a dinosaur egg. It was just that, a test render for the environment, mostly. I really didn’t think too much about it while I made it, nor after it, really. But what I’m writing and plotting now it suddenly made sense. Although unless I can create a male goblin to a similar style that I have my females, there will be a huge contrast between them. But that can be plausible as well. And that is one of the limitations that Daz has with Genesis 8. I could switch to G9, but it has a couple of other problems I’m not a fan of. Namely, it is quite heavy to render and in the style I’m doing?

But overall I’m content with the progress, just need to write a bit more. Which I can do now since the scene of what I’m doing now is relatively simple to do. Anyway, you all have a great weekend!

Solution:
This game is predicated on collecting characters with distinct features stark enough to differentiate them among all others of their kin and everyone else in the possy.

Spouses and more importantly and in particular in this game companions do not have to be a dime a dozen - ”you could swear they were twins” - look alikes to fit the narrative: troll or orc or naga can have body alterations, stand out garments, body or face ink, face or arm tattoos or runes engraved for their particular confort or peace of mind to be believable. Think of it as a theater play - of all the Romans or Greeks or Jews or Christians that appear in the background, the particular ones we are bound to meet and greet in the actual play with actual dialogues and stand out performance need to be flashed out enough through distinctive features around their garments or their persona or body to be meaningful for the audience and fit in the plot hwile also fueling the intrigue of the story. Filler whatever are just filler in the background.

This game has a rather flamboyant cast and each mage in particular has a very distinct feel and style.

It's more about my brain wanting certain, let's say visual unity. If certain race, let's say the naga looks certain way, I expect both genders to have similar race defining features. In their case, the cobra hood and both genders having it. The orcs aren't that close to each other as is, but they share the same racial features. Pointy ears, lower tusks, green(ish) or grey skin in case of the pale orcs.

Now the goblins are an "issue" in a sense since there is no female model as is for G8 (I think there might be one model but I don't recall it being that great which is why I haven't bought it), you can make one, but it differs from the "official" male ones in certain way. Those differences in features can be "fixed", assuming the male figure (or female) has suitable morphs available. If I can get them close enough with the right features, my brain is happy and doesn't nag me to death so to say.

Not sure if you are aware of and , whilst not grotesque as in some folklore and are strikingly similar to the 'little devils' from the same stable, they appear to be a matched G8 pair on Renderosity

Maybe they're just extremely patriarchal and the females never come out of the alpha goblin's harem? ;)

I am aware of them yes, and they are basically scaled down Genesis 8 with long ears morph. I have a goblin female that I made already, it's just creating male pairing with similar features as there isn't necessarily counterpart for the morphs... or skins. For Genesis 8 it's usually either or, rarely both genders get the same figure. But it's just me taking some time and just start messing with things. I'll figure out the way to stop my brain nagging about it sooner or later. Usually 5 minutes before I need the character.
