I would argue that the threat being real instead of fictitious matters quite a lot. Especially when they have proof of necromancy/magic existing. It's not that i'm arguing that they are good or that their methods are good, i'm just saying that their actions are at least understandable and in the setting somewhat acceptable, due to the threat they have. As i said, some times threats/crisis doesn't have good options to solve it, only bad and least bad option. That is also true in real life. Which also means i definitely am not faulting any hunters who after finishing their task, decides to retire and not return.
I see your point. And while I agree that "their actions are at least understandable", I would argue that people acting based on what they believe to be true is also understandable. Generally, people don't take actions without believing they are justified in one way or another — will bring them pleasure, are going to satisfy a need, will save them from danger, etc. So technically, real or not, it should be understandable that people will take actions, even if you don't agree with them or their reasoning.

However, I strongly disagree with your premise that "in the setting [it's] somewhat acceptable". The Donner party was trapped in the Rocky Mountains and believed they would never be rescued and could never make it out to civilization again. All of the evidence they had seemed to suggest that was true. I don't think that makes their cannibalism (and murder, at one point) even remotely acceptable. So I can understand why they did it, but IMO that doesn't make it OK.

So, I guess agree to disagree. I'm guessing I won't convince you of my perspective. But I know for sure you're not going to change my opinion that the cult is led by some of the world's bigger pieces of shit. (Not nearly as bad as necromancers, obviously, but pretty damn high on the list to me.)
There was a real threat -- to their fictitious power.
Excellent point. Is it actually about saving the world, or is that just an excuse to cling to their control over their brainwashed / heavily subdued people?

A lot of bad shit has happened in world history "for the greater good". I don't think that's even remotely an excuse for how they torture and "reward" success among their own people. That just sounds like an excuse for being evil. So the cult's goals notwithstanding, they are pieces of garbage for doing what they do (minus the hunting of evil artefacts, obviously).
thats exactly why I brought up the Gray Knights every Guard regiment that helps them gets somehow lost, its not a great thing for them to do by any margin, but the price if they didn't would be sooooo much worse. And in this game the Alignment is a real event that did happen not that long ago, so I'm pretty sure every person that isnt living in the woods far of any civilization knows that the thread of Undead in any form is real.

Yep. And that was kind of my point as well. There was mentioned about her final destiny, and I was just saying that anyone who doesn't want to rescue Eshe from that cult is effectively rubber-stamping their methods. Just an opinion, but it's how I see it.
explaining why they do it isnt the same as excusing it. In MCs position i would do my damnest to save her even if i had no interest in her. But the MC is not a common man he is the Archmage of the north and has the help of at least 6 other spellcasters, he is also specialized in killing necromancers and finding their corruption. That is nothing normal folk can mobilize just because. In that regard he has probably more magic resources than Eshe's order and a few similar combined. So saving them is probably not feasible for the order or they would do it. Rites like that normally dont get created without the necessity for them.

Also most other members probably wouldn't want saving in the first place.

folks in the world of this game who think liches or similar are just myths to scare kids or whatever.
see my comment on the Alignment

Believing there is a real danger doesn't justify torturous child-abuse training or treating people like discardable assets.
It kinda does if the threat is real, you dont have a "normal" live when, they get eaten by zombies next year. I dont say its cool, but in that world its necessary.

Hard disagree on practically all of your points. Let's just leave it there.

Hello all!

So... rendering. I'm behind from where I want to be, but unfortunately with the set building that is unavoidable. So right now I'm not entirely certain if I can keep the usual schedule up for this update. On positives, the render times are relatively fast so, I might be able to catch up. But I expect it to take a few days longer than usual. Remains to be seen.

Writing, on the other hand, is in decent shape. I'm about half a page where I would want to be, so that's good overall. But writing is always the easy part, and I have a buffer, so it isn't that bad.

I was struggling a bit with what I would show here. At the same time, everything is kind of a spoiler, but also something that you know is going to happen anyway. But anyway. Magical figthts are kind of annoying to do, they can be flashy but at the same time rather dull since ultimately it is just two mages hurling spells and waiting the other to make a mistake. I can make it somewhat different by making both of the combatants to be slightly more aggressive, which I think the situation does warrant to a point. Anyway, will be interesting. And yes, he has a crown, and no it isn't that important. Anyway, luckily there is only one fight scene after this in this update... and if that is seen then things aren't going that well. Right... small break and back to rendering. You all have a great weekend!

I love the game but I really prefer the black cloak on the mc the red is getting old kinda makes the mc look like a bum
Huh. I guess I disagree. It reminds me more of a blood theme, and being a battle mage, I think it's fitting. IDK that I'd dislike a black outfit; I do think that would probably look decent. But I prefer the red he's got personally.

I agree with the battle mage part but the Mc is a Arc mage now I would keep the battle style color and swap it on the black cloak but idk it’s just my opinion
