Well not optimistic but at least the april fools joke indicates he read some of the discussion people have been having about the writing. Maybe with some luck he will have at least gleaned that he needs to work on his scene direction and tone management. Instead of just erroneously coming away with it as people not liking playing the villain.
If that's the case, there's also something to be said about how in many of the sex scenes the internal monologue seems so bored with the actual sex taking place that his thoughts starts wandering off-topic to stuff like philosophy or what will happen in the future. But that's really a whole other can of worms.
