Regular forum users are often blamed for being wrong, yet somehow the millions of people are expected to collectively operate like a perfectly coordinated hive mind; following every rule to the letter, like hundreds of drones controlled by a single operator. And apparently, that's considered a perfectly reasonable expectation.

On a somewhat related note, I have a couple of (slightly off-topic) questions:
  1. Should lawmakers be held at least partially responsible for high crime rates in their country, or is it purely the public's fault for engaging in criminal behavior?
  2. Can we argue that failing to impose sufficient punishment (or imposing no punishment at all) actually encourages criminal activity?

The current trends clearly suggest we're heading in that direction.
Took this on Tuesday

15,425 people joined in 3 days. Not sure what trend you are talking about... Knee-jerk replies without fact checking almost always end up badly...

THAT was what I wanted to know, but sure, go ahead and assume a guy is attacking the mods for asking that question.
I don't need to assume anything. You clearly stated it was a dumb reason. That is not literally just asking or simply asking, you are judging the mods reasons for their actions and calling it dumb. In other words, blaming the mods for problems caused by members.

So we've gone from me supposedly saying you were criticizing them to me saying you are attacking them?
That's almost an impressive escalation of exaggeration....

Do any of you guys actually stop and think before posting?

I never said either of those things.... I said you blamed the mods for problems caused by members.

Strange how you people always blame the mods and staff for problems caused by members!

The reasoning was dumb (initially for me), since there are always false positives in many games, and it was never a cause for concern.
I don't disagree with what the mods did, but they could've at least sent out a notification to the thread members that it would be deleted for the reasons already mentioned.

I should've worded it differently the first time, but I corrected the mistake after, or so I think.
But you seem to be thinking that all I want is to blame the mods.
It wasn't my intention to insult, criticize, or blame the mods.
Again, all I wanted to know was if other threads met a similar fate to the TrueFacials one.

Regular forum users are often blamed for being wrong
If it's so often, I'm sure you can back up that statement with a few threads started to "blame regular users" compared of course to the amount started to blame mods and staff...

yet somehow the millions of people are expected to collectively operate like a perfectly coordinated hive mind
Nice exaggeration, if you mean, meant to act like adults, if not like adults, then at least with some civility, then yes

and note I never even mentioned respecting each other or having manners, this is the internet after all, with all those armchair rebels...

following every rule to the letter, like hundreds of drones controlled by a single operator.
Again completely incorrect. The staff and mods are pretty lenient, that's why there is a warning system in place to allow for a slip up from time to time but hey why stick to facts when you can exaggerate and make thing LOOK worse than they actually are...

And apparently, that's considered a perfectly reasonable expectation.
Read the rules... agree to the rules if you want to join and use the site.
Feel the rules are unfair? unbalanced? changed your mind later and don't like them? go use another site! NO ONE is forcing you to use this one....

Their house, their rules...

Should lawmakers be held at least partially responsible for high crime rates in their country, or is it purely the public's fault for engaging in criminal behavior?
Comparing apples and tires, this isn't a country, this isn't a democracy, this is a private forums. How about instead of trying and failing to tailor your questions to get the result you want, you stick to the correct context and reality?

Should a hotel be able to warn / remove / ban guests that DO NOT follow it's rules? YES!
Should a restaurant be able to warn / remove / ban guests that DO NOT follow it's rules? YES!
etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Can even a public library warn / remove / ban visitors that DO NOT follow it's rules? YES!

Can we argue that failing to impose sufficient punishment (or imposing no punishment at all) actually encourages criminal activity?
The punishment consequences ARE sufficient in this case, you just don't like it or agree with it.

Except it's not deleted, only removed from general viewing. It could come back in the future as has happened with other threads.

No, my replies were to you calling into question my responses to you as if they were incorrect. If you are correcting your initial reply then we'll chalk it up to a misunderstanding.

I apologize for my part in escalating the situation.

then I take back my initial response.

As for if there were others, I personally do not know if there are others with the exact same situation. I do know that there have been ones removed for review and then re-upped. There is also a lot of information in the "recent malware thread" that might give you a better answer.

You say this while aggressively replying to nearly every one of my posts and challenging my points. Honestly, I'm tired of your arrogance and the inability to see beyond your own perspective, all while telling others they "can't see the bigger picture". I'm blocking you to avoid further unnecessary and combative posts, which I'm almost certain are made purely to argue rather than contribute meaningfully. Enjoy your stay on my block list.

Haha yeah ive noticed that guy tries to passive aggressively go on prolonged arguments, dissecting peoples posts sentence by sentence, trying to find some gotcha or whatever, over and over again. It's just one of those people

I actually asked the moderator about this, and they were very clear, it's a definite "no" on the thread coming back. If you want proof, check the screenshot on the first page. There's really no room for misreading their answer.
Curious, considering the links are still there and doesn't present the dreaded "The requested page could not be found."
It presents you the "You do not have permission to view this page"

I don't think it's very common. Every time a thread gets the axe, someone makes a post like this and I rarely see them. I agree the reasoning this time is... well, iffy, but usually they have solid reasons for it. Like the KK card sharing thread was apparently being used to share real **? (Don't quote me on that, I didn't really keep up with that one)

EDIT: Wait, holy shit, since when did the zone censor words like that?

It's fine, I'm just glad that's over.
Also, thanks for the help.

Was it ComPuter?
Also, what is KK?

it's the default behavior for forum engines nowadays to soft delete (meaning it's hidden from everybody but the staff). a hard delete is reserved for stuff you want to fully wipe all traces of from the site/servers (and usually something you don't give mods access to, because that's begging for accidents to happen).
the KK card sharing thread
and guro thread and threads with realistic ai, though iirc in all cases it was also users not self-regulating enough (not reporting banned content or trying to hide it in private messages)
EDIT: Wait, holy shit, since when did the zone censor words like that?
sometime this year. probably a seo thing. or maybe related to the ai case.
