Is it? I've yet to find a modded character on that Discord, besides a few edits, so I don't know what he's talking about.
you need to make sure you have mod releases in your channel list, a couple of months went by where i thought the modding scene completely died.

I have that, but there's just some edits and tweaks to existing characters. Maybe I've misunderstood.

I read this thread and i think i see where it went off the rails. The discord *does* have some modded characters, as stated by by Vegetta9801, and they come in two versions, first HD texture characters and the other modded characters have new hair and tattos, etc. There arent *any* fully personalized characters to download and according to TGA, that option is still FAR AWAY from being implemented.

Yeah, I understand that now. They're not "modded characters", just edits. Same way remasters are not remakes, but people still get them confused.

Holy shit, can't turn around without offending someone. You're taking my comment out of proportion. All I said is I misunderstood them for wholly new characters when they said "modded characters".

EDIT: Now I wish I'd have quoted.

mate, he probably deleted the comment to avoid dramas and BS,, but ur comment was just not nice imo, they are mods, the author of these makes them fully new.... stuff such as new textures, new body shapes and lots of work,, that amount of change qualifies as mod, it seems you are just looking for someone to make them feel bad..

new characters or not, mods are mods and if we think about it anywayz, any mod that exist is an edit of something, so ur comment just sucks imo.. it had no place, is like you were upset at someone trying to improve the game where vanilla characters kinda blow imo

Mate, to be fair, re-skinning characters isn't just a case of "find jpeg, put jpeg on model = done", especially not with TF and the Unity engine. First, you need to at least know how to use Photoshop, which can take months to get the basics and years to master (I'm a graphic designer with over 10 years' experience and even I don't know everything in Photoshop).

Then you have to know which file formats to use - for examples. Then there's the 3rd party tools you need to even access Unity model assets - usually 2 or 3 different programs to learn in order to extract assets and replace them once they're edited.

It's a lot of work, so they are very much modded characters. They've been "modified" and it took a fair amount of time, knowledge and effort.

Yeah there are games out there with skin changing tools built-in, which give the average gamer the chance to mess around using custom textures, but not this one. Not by a long stretch.

faunap:

Just some bugfixes~ & optional mod manager support

I've added default versions of a_presets.lua & common.lua which might have been the cause of the installation issues some were having.
In the worst case you can delete freemode folder and common.lua and it will run, BACKUP your custom content of course~

Let me know if there are any issues!
i got black screen from choosing freemode again so i tried something, i chose environment this time to see what happens and it loaded the location successfully. There was no character so i added them. So my question is a) Is it the intended behaviour that i didn't know of and had to choose location ourself in freemode if background is black cuz if so then i am fucking retarted.
b) Is it also the intented behaviour that we have to add characters ourself afterwards cuz thats the whole point of freemode MOD in the 1st place and if thats the case then again i am retarded cuz in my mind i taught that the freemode will just load like 2 characters and location by default :HideThePain:

The intended behaviour is to replace the games default free play mode where it spawns 2 random characters in a random map and you just do whatever you want from there. it acts as a replacer and should be active from the start, just click a character to bring up the mod menu. (yes it black screens when you load it from story select, idk why. just dont do that)

Not to get your hopes up but Loler has posted two characters edits (in that discord, look for his user) that I would say are pretty significantly different from the base versions, they actually change the body models a bit and somehow for one of them her outfit is a bit different.

First is a curvy version of Honoka that is basically just her body being different but I like it a lot and then there’s a ‘goth’ 2b which somehow alters her outfit slightly. I’ve been waiting for him to post a tutorial on how he is doing this but he hasn’t yet, hopefully when he does we get the kind of character modding we want, at least with maybe new outfits for existing characters!

To be honest a lot of the characters in this game I barely use but the outfits I use all the time, Marie rose and queen’s (marika) outfits look good on literally everyone so an outfit mod even a minor one is a big deal imo.

Tbh none of these characters really interest me, but I knew that months ago. I just hope eventually we move on from certain fandoms, like Witcher 3 and the first descendant, also the final fantasy games in general, just really boring characters imo. There are some characters I could take another swing at like I think they could’ve gotten a better raven model but I’s appreciate more variety, getting characters from many different franchises. I guess it’s up to the voters.

idk if this will work but here I got this direct from the Patreon. lmk if I need to upload the actual file myself to a file sharing site if it gives you a paywall or something.
Bro, if it's not too much trouble and you don't mind, and you have access, please give us a link to the new version.
