I normally don't post virus or trojan reports but, this one definitely pinged up on my system. Someone mentioned that one of the earlier .exe's of the game would tamper with defender and, disable other AV's such as Mbam and so on - lo and behold, I downloaded it and two days later my defender no longer would open when clicked, and malwarebytes antimalware was not displaying any GUI.
Looking into what changed - using the Get-MpComputerStatus command in powershell revealed that the defender service had been stopped and, the scanning functionality was disabled. Along with this, the definitions for defender was removed and dated 0/0/0000.
Checking via safemode, Malwarebytes antimalware could not be stopped, started or even closed. The entire installation was compromised via the updater tool. The trojan acts like a spoof, replacing the primary .exe for updates on MBAM's own tool, if installed, which would then allow for a custom URL to download infected files, thus entering the system and compromising it.
I'm not posting this for discussion or debate - I'm only reporting this here so that others may be cautious about their own system. Whether or not it's from the links provided, I cannot say 100% for sure - but, this was one of the only things I downloaded as of late and, pretty much happened within an hour or so of opening the game.
Take it how you will, but I will not be downloading any future updates, at least for the time being until I can be 100% positive it safe to do so.
