I have yet to try the game but you might want to remove this preview from the OP.Wow, I honestly didn’t expect this much interest in my game at all. As many people have said, usually the first thing someone makes, whether it’s a novel, a game, or even just art, isn’t really meant to be seen by others. I tend to agree, and I think I might be dealing with impostor syndrome...
Leaving that aside, on release day I had been awake and working for about 48 to 60 hours straight, balancing both my official job and this side project (this game). So thank you all so much for your replies and for your patience while testing it. For now, I’ll keep focusing on writing the story. I do have a clear path, even in my tired mind.
Come Home did sandbox the best imo. Clear and concise presentation. The only 2 sandbox game I can think of that I enjoy are Horton Bay Stories-Jake and Master's of Raana. Master's of Ranna is more of strategy/roleplaying game with naughty pictures than your standard AVN. But Horton bay is probably closer to what you are trying to do.
That is a really BAD example.Come Home did sandbox the best imo. Clear and concise presentation.
At each section of the day, the game lists all available events and labels them with the Character's or LI's portrait.
The events are color coded. Completed events and repeatables have a grey outline, new events are colored pink.
No navigating through corridors & rooms, no randomly checking out locations on the map, no spamming events to trigger something. No wondering what to do next. No timers or QTE. No shopping for items.
Superb presentation, every info and detail you need on a single screen.
The game has a journal system that provides clues but i hardly ever use it. The only times i used the journal are for cross character events where 2 LIs' storylines intersect. Even then, it's likely not needed. Just click on every pink event each day and you'll eventually clear all LIs lol.
Very simple mechanics but made gameplay significantly less frustrating.

I mean, we were was talking about the sandbox mechanics, not the story or premise LOL. The narrative is a whole other issue, even i'm not a big fan of it.That is a really BAD example.
In that game you don't have an Harem, you are a serial cheater that cheats on a bunch of girls and a guy. That game doesn't have a story, but a bunch of short "stories" that progress through events.
Almost all the LI's are kept from each other. They don't know or care about the others. You go on cheating on all of them, no vestige of honesty to be found anywhere. Exactly the type of MC I refuse to play.
Sure, you are given the option to not go with any of them, so, the point of the game is to choose one LI, play it until it ends, close the game and it's done. Or. Cheat with full impunity. You don't even have to lie, no one even asks or cares...
