Fun fact, in some Commonwealth countries, they once had a system that is 6 primary + 7 secondary (3 middle + 2 high + 2 Sixth form), then 3 years of university. So, arguably that could be something like 19, 17, 16.So, there is the 2 step and 3 step education system.
In the 2 step there is 8 years of primary and 4 years of "middle" school(we call it that because you go to higher education after the mandatory stuff)
In the 3 step you do 6 primary, 3 middle and 3 years of high school.
If your family kept moving to another cities/countries when you were young, you may end up 1 or 2 years older than your classmates because you may have to retake an academic year.
(And the average age of the first sex in many countries is ... you know)
