I think there might be a need to clarify how such a remake would exactly look since I feel like you guys are imagining it worse than I intend to do it:

The biggest change and the only reason why I can't just do a rewriting of the script files to get rid of all the taboo dialog/narration for it to be patched into its original version later are the models and its probably the thing that would hurt most. They have to be changed to look like actual adults: MC bigger than Jacky. Stephanie, Viktoria, Cathrine, Emily, Lola on par with Alyvia and Mya.

Apart from that I wouldn't re-imagine the game, I wouldn't change the story in any massive ways. In fact, for the most part it would be exactly the same, day by day, scene by scene, even render by render with the vast majority of dialog and narration being one-to-one as it is right now. I'd need to put all the school girls at the end of Z-School, so I'd need to adjust some dialog here and there for it to make sense, but that would be pretty minor. I would also need to change the Cathrine corruption route for it so be consensual but I think to already know a way to do that by only changing a few paragraphs of dialog too.

The second big thing is obviously the whole incest thing and the more I think about it I don't think that I would want to go the landlady/roommate route for it. Instead my current idea is to do it in a way that all family characters are non-romancable in the official, non patched version. Meaning I'd develop a third route for Jacky, Alyvia and Emily where the MC has a platonic relationship with them and make these routes the only ones that is available in the official release. The other routes would stay the same as they are right now but would need to be patched in though an “unofficial fan patch”.

Now, of course this would take time and it would hurt a lot. Believe me, I don't want to do it either and still I think that it would be the best way to give this game at least a chance to ever see a satiating ending without having to fear being banned from one day to the next. In regard how much time this would take I wouldn't be able to tell. But if I can leave most stuff as it is right now and only have to redo it render by render it really shouldn't take an unreasonable time, especially considering how long even an regular update takes me nowadays.

I think it's too early to panic. From what I understand, people are moving against this; it's a war, and you still don't know who is going to win. But let's say the worst comes to pass and collective shout wins; they are a feminist group with very outdated views, so what's to say they won't add more censorship later?

Like, imagine you are doing the changes and then receive the news that collective shout has put pressure to now ban the use of huge tits in porn because "it sets an unnatural standard of beauty that girls would have to suffer to achieve with things like surgery, and that it sets the common girls to look less attractive and objectifies women."

Or maybe they even ban harem because "it's a power fantasy for men that can increase the cheating in general because some men would aspire to emulate that when normally no real-world girl would accept that."

If something like that came, then your rework would be useless regardless. And if they succeed in banning porn in general, like some people claim they are trying to do? Then it was pointless anyways.

I'm with the guys that say that you should wait and see how this develops first; you are not sure yet what might happen, and if we win at the end and all this goes away, you would have started working on a remake for nothing.

Now that the rules require Baibai to change so that they don't censor her game, fuck, don't tell me it's because of incest or because of the size of the breasts, if it's because of incest, then change it, the MC is adopted and the matter is settled. Doing a censored remake is a very baaaad idea. That is a last resort option and there still other options to consider. You're essentially retconning to save your ass and no one likes that no matter if its by choice or forced. Forgot to say 1 benefit if getting banned by ss: If baibai's ss page really get banned, then you can start the remake and put it on patreon since all the forbidden content in the game are deleted so it is clean for patreon's rule(which is much bigger platform than ss to earn money)!

If he wants to avoid Itch.io banning him because of their new standards, there can be no shadow of a doubt that the characters are all adults. "Short guys exist" and "some people have youthful faces" will not fly as an excuse, because we all know those are "wink wink nudge nudge" claims, and Itch.io have no burden of proof if they decide the characters aren't adult, and there's no incest; they just have to believe it to be the case, and BaiBai's getting banned.

Those aren't "wink wink nudge nudge" claims, those are facts, pure and simple. And BaiBai's acknowledgement of having to change them is based entirely on him being insane.

Because of that I very seriously considered just dropping everything else to start working on a heavily censored remake of the game as soon as possible to be on the safe side of things and I even already started digging through v0.1 ....

No, it's based on their being no burden of proof for Itch.io to meet. This is not a court of law, nor a negotiation; it's Itch.io who are the sole arbiters for what does and what does not meet their criteria. All it takes for them to ban him is their belief the characters don't meet the standards that Itch.io have set out.

Alright, this was kind of a weird week. It didn't start of the best with the development once again reaching its most un-fun part even though I really tried this time to change my communication in terms of expectations but I guess its just kind of inevitable for things to turn out like this with the time between releases being as they are. It isn't that tragic though, after all its not like we haven't been through this plenty of times by now. Much worse however was the whole Itch.io thing which together with the Steam purge happening right before it really scared the shit out of me.

Because of that I very seriously considered just dropping everything else to start working on a heavily censored remake of the game as soon as possible to be on the safe side of things and I even already started digging through v0.1 to figure out how I'd best go about doing so, but I calmed down a bit by now. To be honest though, I still think doing it this way would be the most rational course of action and I'm probably kind of stupid not to do so immediately. At the same time however I don't think I can do it. V0.10 isn't in a state where I'd be willing to say fuck it and just release it. The way things are right now I'd rather cancel it completely and try to work myself back to the current state of things as fast as possible but I really don't think I can do that to you guys and I also think that it would be nice to have at least episode 1 out in the way it was meant to be (I also don't even want to imagine the shit show that would break loose if I did, but that's secondary). Accordingly I decided to just stick with it for now and gamble on the game being safe for a while longer. After v0.10 however, the way I'm currently thinking is that I won't start work on v0.11 and instead start over with a remake of v0.1 which will most likely end up quite a bit different from how things are right now. But we'll see about that once I get there, especially since I currently have two different ways in mind how I could go about doing this from which I'd still have to decide on one.

All of this sucks to an unbelievable degree but sadly there is no way of knowing whether I'm overreacting or not, though I kind of doubt that I am. Either way, for the last few days I've been kind of flip flopping between trying to continue the work on v0.10 and starting over with the v0.1 remake without getting much done of either and while doing so I realized too late that I still had to do some bonus renders for today. I'll catch up with posting those next week instead and try to get my head back straight in regards to wrapping up v0.10

There is no rush anyway, since itch.io has already banned (or delisted) all NSFW games and we don't know how much time it'll take them to review all that stuff. And SS is flying under the radar for now. Finish the next release in the next couple months and then see where it's at.

I'm certainly not in favor of changing the characters, unless the patch replaces all the renders with the true ones. But I think no matter what, it's kinda a lost cause to keep the game on itch.io. It would require so much butchery of the game that it would end up as another generic harem game

I've given money to this project and I want it to succeed. I personally think that you have made some mistakes regarding how you have chosen to communicate with your doners and fans and you have clearly placed too much faith into factors outside of your control considering the project's scope and nature. After the infamous Patreon clampdown a few years ago creators needed to learn that these platforms are fragile and prone to tightening their terms and rules at any moment. Anybody who is pinning the future of their project on 'X platform being ok with me selling my kinky incest porn game forever' is dooming their project. This is why devs program in 'customisable relationships' or leave it to the community to make incest patches for their games. The way you went about this project is incompatable with wanting it to be secure on these public facing platforms.

I personally hope this project continues in some form as I think there is a lot of great stuff here but I do not think a full on remake will be a good idea. If you want to finish the story then finish it. If you want to start a new project taking the lessons you have learned forward, then do that. I think expecting fans to follow you to a remake of a project they backed you for years on and were ultimatly let down on with significant elements shifted is unwise. It is certainly not a direction I have much interest in.

They exist. But devs underestimate the planning and expectation management required to actually finish a project like this.

Yeah, I hope the censorship issue is resolved soon. I'd wait, putting the game on hold, instead of rushing into it and causing the game to lose its charm.

My fellow degenerates, I understand that right now with all the shit it's been going on we're on high alert and probe to jump into action carelessly, but right now it's the most important course of action to stay calm. Do not lash against Baibai for that isn't a productive way to advance in this issue, time and time again there has been many examples of this kind of annoying restrictions by the hand of people so disconnected with reality is risible how are they in positiona of power. For now, I believe it's important that Baibai continues with the current update as usual for it is still early to start changing plans but not to make them because there's always a way to jump around this kind of shit shows. In time there would be ways to fight back against this groups and their shitty agenda but now we most focus on the things we can control while we still can; stuff like supporting the devs whose work we enjoy in the available platforms, communicating with them for useful feedback, and insisting with your representatives in the political side because never forget, right now they attacked a small section but they'll never stop if no one stops them.
