fair points. though i don't completely agree. bully viki would certainly override a lot of friendly viki. but stephi is a different story. they were a team of 3 outcasts. each of them were the oasis in a desertic social life for the others, that's very strong, especially if it helps cope with the bullying.
that desire was most likely not unrequited if we think about it. but would the resentment coming out of being "left out" of the whoring, for such a pervert as MC is, be strong enough to replace his good memories ?
he should be able to recall what she used to be like with him and leo, in my opinion.
though it's the same for his little sister. he couldn't remember that she used to want his attention so much. he could only remember her most recent behavior.
he could only remember his mother "before and after". so that might be a clue to how his mind works.

I think you are forgetting how original timeline mc was. This mc certainly would never forget about Steph. But it's been a big theme that og mc never really payed attention to the people around him. He was friends with steph and leo, but those were just the people he hung out at school with. From what we have been told he mostly played videogames and flet into porn.
I don't think he cared that much about his social life. He only cared about cathrine and that she was out of his league in his mind. Steph and Leo were just there. He remembered Leo because they hung out longer. But he never really cared that much.
At least that was my impression.
He remembered Cathrine because she was his unrequited love. He remembered Vicky because she was his tormentor. He remembered his family, because they were family. But steph wasn't his girlfriend originally. And he didn't care that much about his friends, because videogames and porn were all that he did. She was just someone he used to be friends with and then they weren't and he didn't really care.

but damn, the game needs proofreading asap. especially for day 5 and 6, my eyes were bleeding. wrong words, missing words, missing letters, typos, etc. it's as if it's written with bad voice recognition alone and no one read the resulting text.
it's a shame because other than that, the writing is actually ok.

it's most likely the very classic trope of MC promising to marry her in some roundabout way. Viki being already in love with him felt VERY betrayed when he told her he had a crush on Cathrine on the first day of middle school, especially if he would not remember the promise which should be very fresh in their mind. pretty sure MC's mom told him what the promise was.

I mean, most from personal experience, but my traumatic experience that i had on my childhood kinda overrade most of my childhood memories, i have a really hard time remembering things outside a specifc time, and im not even that old, so maybe something around this?

Development update

Alright, I've been digging my way through the Viktoria scenes but there is still a decent bit left to do. The first few of her scenes aren't that big but only really when compared to some of the other scenes of this update, as even the “small” scenes are quite chunky.

I'm almost getting a bit concerned about this though, as I feel like I used to write the scenes a bit shorter and more on point. Now its not like I think that all dialog always has to be relevant to the story or character development and instead can be used to build some atmosphere or set up more important things, but right now, going through all the writing again, it definitely feels like I overdid it a little bit. Maybe that's just my usual worry on the last stretches of development but I may have to take a close look at that for the next update.

That said, it has been my intention for a while now anyway that from v0.10 onward the in-game days should be getting less dense in terms of content, as with v0.9 all the character dynamics of the main girls should be sufficiently set up to grand myself a bit more freedom in terms of scene transitions and leaving a bit more to narration.

But anyway, just a bit of rambling and sharing some thoughts on my part and you definitely don't have to worry, I won't redo anything for v0.9 anymore. As I said, there is still quite a bit of text to go through but I'm doing my best to keep to the deadline. Next week might be a tiny bit slower as there are a few things I'll have to do to but the progress this week was pretty good, so its shouldn't be much of a problem.

Self awareness on this is always good. Quantity != quality all the time. I'm still gonna do a rewrite of a section for BaiBai to show how he can be more concise in some places while keeping his writing style... just closing out some projects and don't wanna do it when the weekend rolls around lol. I think it's supposed to emphasize how his putting Catherine on a pedestal so warped his view of the world and his priorities that it impeded his very perception of reality; kind of like viewing Gatsby's obsession with Daisy in The Great Gatsby through Nick Carraway's relatively objective and dispassionate viewpoint highlights the extremes of Gatsby's behavior and delusion. The "twisted memories" are both a narrative hook and narrative prism through which to analyze the MC's flaws and the pitfalls of his past behavior.

MORE VICTORIA I'M LEGIT IN LOVE WITH HER, seriously though the whole mean girl who is actually just madly in love and hurt, I'd like to see her fleshed out more and have her warm up like a kiss scene where she's like "I hate you!" while crying or something and you just kiss her idk, I'm rambling but still I absolutely love this game just wish I'd see more of other characters Stephine is nice and all but not my favorite character.
