Probably still a month or two away given the pace of translation in the past, plus the dev still wanting to overhaul a few features before the new release.Anyone know when the next update’s dropping? I want to play, but im hesitant because if there’s an update later, I’ll have to re-download the whole 15GB again

Delayed to September at least. It would be 8 months since last update. Sooner or later it would be only one update a year.
Are Visual novels that hard to make? Or is it a milking trend happening in many other games lately?
milking is the only way, developer make a good game, and the more sub they the more you need to wait for a new update
Here we go again, another few weeks crying about milking.

Yeah it is an amazing game. Last year, the developer was kind to stop subs for 4 months until release. Milking has become a habit in other big games without pausing payments for delays (i.e Power Vaccum, Summer Heat, Waifu Academy and Twisted World)

I don't get it, I know and respect that developing AVN takes time but it sounds like everything is done except translating half of the text he has already written from german to english, and just that is going to take at least a whole month ? Even if he's not fully fluent in english, I don't understand how it can take so long just to translate half the text of an update
And somehow I'm afraid it's going to be riddled with typos and errors just like the 2 or 3 last updates
If I were the dev, I would lie about the WIP translation and start planning or rendering the next update right away. That way, the next update would appear not to take that long, which would reduce the pressure for the next release. Making us believe the 2 weeks translation is done in 6 weeks, so that a 6 months update is in reality a 7 months update, is a genius move.

You're obviously not thinking like a AVN dev. Every update gives new subscribers so making the current update take longer just so that I can milk more subscribers for a shorter amount of time with the update after makes no sense at all. Sadly I have yet to find a way to steal time from the future.
But have you tried using the hyperbolic time chamber? If no, I am afraid it is milking now smh my head

As someone properly mentioned the amount of updates might have decreased, but the amount of content/year is more.
I wouldn't say BAIBAI milks his supporters at all. He may take long but he delivers good stuff. It's not like the dev of Agent 17 or much worse, the dev of Demon Boy Saga (jokingly known as Blue Balls Saga).
But then again, this taking longer than ideal is the norm as far as I can tell. The only exception I know it's the HRelease that develops the game Straitened Times. It takes them 45 days on average to deliver very good updates

I think it can be as easy or hard as the circunstances of the dev's life allow them to be. Think about it like this, Baibai isnt a triple a company, so no hordes of people to over work and then toss away and no stupid amounts of money to waste. Also life happens, sometimes it can be a bitch just trying to live, I can bet a lot of us here knows what it feels like when life decides to fuck you over and denying you of your plans and projects. That's why Baibai closed the support for a while as he understood it wasnt fair for the people donating their hard earned money, and after that he delivered a great update and kept comunicating with his public, I understand that waiting is annoying but we're not in the dark and I believe Baibai deserves the benefit of the doubt.

I don't care how long it takes, as long as he is still working on it. Some dev's don't say a word about what they are doing. Baibai always does a great job
