We are disagreeing about how BaiBai will react I think.

We both think that this latest round of censorship will largely fail.

However I dont think it matters because just the idea of them going after adult games was able to make BaiBai rethink his entire work, what is too stop baibai from reacting that way the next time an adult game (that isnt his) gets some notoriety?

Yea, he definitely reacted a bit stronger than some other devs. But the more recent post was a bit more hopeful, so, in the best case scenario, things continue to calm down and after 0.10 he decides to continue the original (non-rework) course

Honestly I'm just surprised that he freaked out this much over it, don't get me wrong this is potentially his one and only source of income but out of the games and dev's I've seen none of them have flirted with the idea of just fully remaking, changing and removing key aspects of their game over this. There has been without a doubt lots of reasons to worry but every dev I've seen has been fairly logical about everything in the sense that subscribtar has had no signs of removing anything and instead of thinking about completely changing and fucking up their game, they've just began searching for other platforms and ways to fund their game just in case.

It's insane to think about removing/changing incest, character models, the whole drug storyline, every blackmail storyline, every mention of school ,and any hardcore corruption scenes. it's particularly insane that all of the things involving the corruption route are just ready to go on the chopping block, I remember the dev originally saying the plan was that only the main love interests were going to have romance and corruption routes well the other side characters were just going to have corruption routes, now I believe at some point he changed the side characters point system from corruption to affection but I still think the corruption route of the game is fairly integral to the game as a whole.

It makes much more sense to just continue working on the game because let's be real it takes a solid 6 plus months for an update to be ready anyway and well you do start looking around for other platforms or ways to fund the game just in case rather then a full fletched remake. Then hopefully If things continue as they are things will die down and you can just wait and see where the pieces fall before going full meltdown.

Just to clarify one point I'm 90% sure he has a main job (I believe he has mentioned it a few times) this I assume is a side job/hobby likely wants it fulltime but that is just my own speculation.

Like I said in my post more than just height needs to be changed (the fact they wear uniforms and all go to classes at the same time would both need to be changed so not just sex scenes but any scene at school/headed to school/headed from school) as well as everything with the "drug" so tons of character scenes need to be rewritten.

No school (all but 2 or 3 characters)
No dubious consent (reworked (logic) scenes with sis friend/for leo/everything with money plot)
No blackmail (no older sis corruption route, no Catherine corruption)
No "taboo" (the entire narrative needs to be rewritten, and wont be able to fall on "taboo" for quality only relying on writing)
No chance as a "vanilla game" seriously why play a vanilla honey select (or 2) game that is reworking for months/ better part of a year, is more or less purely slice of life, and would be competing with popular (more interesting) vanilla games? Seriously why play this over eternum if twisted memoires goes vanilla? In fact eternum jokingly admits to having a striaght up rape scene, and a character who has 3/4 scenes that they point out are dubious consent
BaiBai translation is just as long or longer than every other step and he would need to go over the entire 10 chapters, making 100% every single reference above (and likely more) is changed/altered, which considering the amount of grammatical/spelling errors would mean he would want someone to check it because spelling can be forgiven (even by the censors) but a single reference to anything listed would make the rework pointless as the "censors" could just say "still has 1 line about 18 year olds right before uni" and have "grounds" to ban it/make baibai lose his income

Wowza that sure is something. Not going to touch anything about the origins of the censorship it doesn't matter here at all. The thing you're saying that needs to be addressed is the changing of the models/characters. There is no having your cake and eating it here. If the characters are changed massive rewrites will need to happen. Keep in mind we have been in the translation step for awhile now so changing the entire game at this point would add a ton of dev time. It would also be irrelevant because like you said authoritarian is authoritarian they don't care what is even out there, they care about being in control.

So imagine all the characters get changed to be "acceptable" heights, imagine we change all the dialogue to not have anything that someone can take a moral grandstanding against. Now how much time do you think it will take to remake the models, re render every scene to avoid clipping and change the angles since they no longer work, the amount of time it would take searching for every line that could bother people, remove the entire blackmail plot, need to rework the entire money plan. The game would take months maybe a year to get to where it is now at the very least. Not to mention drive away everyone, just changing Emily for scene flow made people question their support. What will happen and when will you see this cake? The answer is simple, the game will die or be gravely injured. Once all that work is done they will still be coming because the goal post will have shifted yet again. Do not change for the activist.

Was not saying that x or y was causing the censorship but that it would be easy to come across as "i want it this way everyone else who disagrees with me (insert preferred side insult)" but i think even if you objectively look at this scenario you arrive at a similar conclusion (in this case remake would be harmful).

People can only say "just change to stepcest, or make every 6"0" but none of them seem to acknowledge that in the future the censorship people would naturally (as in they already have) want to censor further.

Something I was thinking over all these days is that: it's kinda make sense for BaiBai to freak out in an way. From the guidelines showed in this image, this game hit 2 or 3 pretty hard. If someone as much as look at this game, it's over as the current state.

In addition, it's entirely at the discretion of Itch.io if a game violates their policy, and what recourse do you think game developers have to appeal such a decision? I doubt very much if BaiBai would be wiling to take them to court over it.

As the new itch.io rules say, and for them to make a remake of the game, it won't feel the same, and waiting years for it to be back where the version is, change the narrative, perspective, and other things, but the good thing is, what more can you say, the game is already dead unless they find another way to pay.

Yes but let's not be hypocrite, in the game they're underage on purpose and it's not their height alone. It's also their faces, the fact that they go to school and their overall behavior and how they're treated by the older characters (like the mom)

I have seen honey select characters with the same type of faces as mothers etc. It's a limitation of HS which is using anime style art.
As for the rest you missed my point it seems. I am totally against a rework but Baibai talking about their heights as a solution for the age stuff is fucking stupid.
