Hello everyone,
I’m checking in for news. The last time I was here (in October), the game was supposed to be released soon and was in the final polishing stage. Apparently, after reading the latest messages, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Where does the development stand? There has been no news from BaiBai since December on the support platforms.

Nothing, he just said before Christmas that there would be no news until the end of the year. Since then, there has been nothing on Sunday the 4th, nor on Sunday the 11th... He's still online sometimes on Discord, so at least he's alive.

Just to clear up some of the speculation, I actually went back and checked this instead of guessing.

I copied the entire SubscribeStar page, meaning every post going all the way back to September 4, 2022, and ran the full timeline through ChatGPT to look for two things: whether there’s a pattern of him disappearing for weeks without warning, and what he actually said about coming back in January.

What that shows is pretty consistent across the whole history.

He has missed a week or two before without announcing it, usually around illness, burnout, or heavy workload, and he almost always explains it afterward. What he does not have a pattern of, anywhere in the SubscribeStar history, is vanishing for months or silently abandoning the project.

On December 24, the wording wasn’t “I’ll be back on X date.” It was essentially “you’ll hear from me again next year,” which is a calendar statement, not a deadline. Based on how holiday pauses have gone in the past, mid-to-late January still fits his normal cadence.

So realistically:
• January quiet still fits past behavior
• Late January would still be normal
• End of January with no word would be new
• February silence would actually be a deviation

Not defending or criticizing anything here — just grounding expectations in the actual posting history instead of vibes or panic.

If this turns into a real pattern break — which hasn’t actually happened yet — it’ll be obvious soon enough. Until then, there’s no need to jump to worst-case conclusions.

I have personally lost hope and stopped my support on SS. We will surely get 0.10, but I am less sure about a possible 0.11...
In October I thought the same thing and made the same decision, but today I believe the game is already abandoned, and maybe, just maybe, by the end of the year he'll get back to work and release whatever is ready (when revenue starts to decrease)

Damn, you mean he isn't going to post 0.10 either?

I'll cancel my subscription too then.

I don’t think that will happen. Last time he said he was working on polishing and reviewing the text, and as far as I understand, the text is very long. So we probably won’t see a release until the end of this month, or even mid-February. Also, he already replied about the release on his Discord. It could be at any time, but from my point of view it’s not that close. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s the most likely scenario.

Yeah even the dev is unsure of the release date at this point so you may not expect it at least this month.

He claims that he would shortened the timeframe after the last update massive delay. His own progress status reports does not reflect the true status. Translating and Polishing status has been for what - 5 months or longer than his renderings/coding status?

I understand why you’re asking those questions, but the translation process is nowhere near that easy. Just to give you an idea, the game has roughly 3,657,238 visible characters in text in the version 0.9b… Ask ChatGPT how long it would take one person to translate all of that manually, or even just to correct writing errors.

All of which has already been translated, and therefore doesn't need translated again, and so isn't counted towards the time he's spent translating the next update.
He's been working on translating the new text, because he writes it all in German then translates it mostly-succesfully to English.

Yeah he doesn't need to translate the entire game, it's already done (except last chapter), just fix the typos... 6 months delay for that really?

Yes, given the number of characters the game has—without even mentioning what the new update might include—if you ask, for example, ChatGPT, it will tell you it takes 5 to 9 months. I’ve personally translated some games into my native language. One in particular had 600k characters, and I managed to correct the errors in 2 months, manually. People really have no idea what it actually involves to review that much text.
