A whole bunch of stuff changed. When I played it before the last update, there were a few scenes I couldn't get. I was determined to get them on this update, but after a single playthrough, I apparently unlocked everything in the gallery. So I don't even know what I missed.
Basically, check your gallery to see if you are actually missing any scenes. If you aren't, it was probably removed or something.

I recently finished playing the latest version of the game and I don't quite understand the concept. Is it supposed to be the prologue? So long and meaningless?

It's a concept a lot of games suffer with, endless text and world building before you get to the main game.
And even after you get to the game just more infinite text.
Prose before hoes.
You are not the only one, everyone thinks the same and the Dev knows it, he just doesn't care, he's been told many times, the Dev just told most people to shut up and continued to do nothing.
Now, THAT'S what I call a downgrade, although of course, you can also add the rest of the characters haha.

If you are into wonky proportions, then yes. Me personally, I actually really like the new one because it is better proportioned, is smoother, and has better details. Granted, I do wish the tan line stayed, but it is very much an upgrade. Hell, most of the character updates are better, and even those that radically changed the design are still really good. Unfortunately, while the models are better, the development time is so much worse. It sucks that such good models are not being enjoyed because of the dev not even getting help from others.
It's good that you say "personally," there's a reason why the previous version had so many fans.
There's also a reason why the dev left a message at the end of the old version, telling those who criticized the new characters to shut up. It was back when the remake was just starting and there were updates with the new designs everywhere. To this day, he still doesn't justify the remake.
It's kind of irrelevant whether they look better or worse if they are literally visually different, they're basically just other characters and for now, the updates are basically a scam for those who pay, the new characters are one of two things, pretty bad and unnecessary or wasted opportunities (Especially the Mc's Aunt, the Dev made her like a wardrobe instead of making her the same or bigger than Jasmine but still feminine, what a huge wasted opportunity), so, I still think this remake was a waste, the Dev should abandon the project and announce it so people stop paying, or people should just abandon the Dev, any option works.
