Thanks for your input. I considered Depeche Mode as it's a great band and was a strong contender, especially with 6 studio albums in the chosen decade of the 80s(The three songs you mentioned being from three seperate albums). Unfortunantly, my favorite of their albums, Violator, featuring Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus, and Policy of Truth, didn't release until March 19th of 1990.id swap depeche mode for either of these. strangelove, leaving in silence, master and servant. i like berlin and astley was always fun when he came on the radio on the way to the beach. but none of their songs ever felt like a moment to me.
soft cell was a great choice though. tainted love isnt may favorite because it was their best known hit, i have like 3 completely separate moments in my life that play in my head when i here the song. my favorite when i was 15 being drug into a club by a group of college girls, the dance mix of tainted love came on, im standing dead center of the dance floor surrounded by laughing joyful women, fog machine and lasers flashing, on the wall across its just a huge screen of music videos and stuff playing. and there i am dancing when i realize, this exact moment feels like it was stolen from a movie, one ive never seen. completely surreal and i had no clue how or why, then i just danced for hypnotized by pretty girls and 80s music. its the only song from the whole night i could remember even the next day. btw i was completely sober, as in zero drinks sober. i didnt have a dime to my name and wasnt going to ask the girls to buy me drinks. i still had pride at 15. lol
Additionally, I ultimately have to be able to effectively tie the specific song(s) from the chosen album with the story during that specific episode in the episode wrap up. For that reason more than any other, I went with "Take My Breath Away"(Does it get any more 80's than Top Gun? I mean talk about a moment, I can still remember seeing it in the theater for the first time! I'm pretty sure the casset player in my truck played that soundtrack so much I wore it out.) and "Together Forever/Never Gonna Give You Up"
But hey, Depeche Mode is a solid 80's choice. Maybe if I Have a wrap up that's just not working for me I might swap in
Speak & Spell and use "Just Can't Get Enough".
Thanks!
