I've barely started playing, but I already want to complain about the font size, not even Ren'Py's accessibility options help, double of nothing is still nothing.

Another problem is the chosen font, there is an excellent reason why Ren'Py set default font and font size, it has been widely tested and approved.
At least I can reactivate the DejaVu Sans font, but as for the font size, there's no way to return it to Ren'Py's default size.

I have keratoconus, so maybe I'm the only one here having trouble reading the text with this small font size, but I hope the dev considers increasing the font size or at least adding an option for players to adjust the size as they prefer, it's not something new or hard.

Here is a code for Ren'py that adds a slider to adjust the size of the dialogue text:

I already have the code, but I just haven't mess around with the default renpy settings just yet. Now that there's 2 people who point this up, I'll add it later on next update. Thank you! :)

Didn't get a chance to play this before dev went away but so far it has one of the better prologue's i've seen with the correct pacing and enough intrigue to keep myself, and players, captivated for future updates. The fact that the roadmap is outlined in the dev-talk really helped with excitement.

I believe the donation goal will get hit especially if the quality gets better than what shown in 0.1 and with the full episode out by early next year. (2 month per update is super exciting to hear but I know it can always change especially with the coding/animation experience)

This should be a review but I wanted to bring something up from my playthrough.

In the intro it was shown how each response has an indicator for what it might mean. I wish there was a way to have a list of those indicators on hand as I had to make a save of the intro to go back to so I know what some of those icons mean. If a way of seeing those indicator identifiers is coming soon that'll be great!

Glad to have a quality developer come back to his game! Excited to see what you do Eranfer!

Thank you~ Glad that you like this prologue! As for the Choice Icon meaning, I'm planning to add those into the phone app. That way whenever people want to see it, they can check it by opening the phone! As for discord, currently it's for supporter and ex-supporter only. But I'm on my way of making a subreddit and other community related stuff.

A bit too short to give any definitive answer, since it's a transition from HS1 to HS2 (didn't play the original)

I felt a bit confused by the premise. The game started on a very depressing mood and then suddenly became a Mafia thing.
I was expecting the bearded man we saw to be the MC, lol.

There's something I don't get: Marcelinka told MC he and Della have been training since childhood to become what they are now. However, nothing in the MC's flashback shows us that. When did his training start?

APPARENTLY(i had to argue with the dev + DM a friend to learn this) this release is part 1 out of 3 of the first chapter.

So...maybe it'll be shown later, good luck with this

Yeahh, I kinda made it like that hehe... :3 As for when does Della and MC start being trained, at some point in the future I'll show it to the players. Not exactly in episode one btw, but you will slowly know about it. Stuff like when does MC and Della met each other, why she became MC bodyguard, etc. I just don't want to info dump everything in one go like what I did back then.

But I strongly suggest dev make a option to skip the story about torture.
You can, actually. Just choose "Shoot Head" and there will be no torture at all. But if you mean by making the interrogation scene skippable, then no, I can't do that. Eventhough it means nothing atm, this interrogation scene is vital for you to understand about stuff that will happen in the future.

DEVLOG #9

Hello everyone~ How are you guys doing? I hope you all are doing fine.

So… to avoid making another overly long post like before, I’m gonna keep this one simple and straight to the point lol xD Alright, let’s talk about it.

WRITING.
Just like what you’ve seen in the image above, the writing for UBL V.0.2 is basically finished! The remaining 5% is mostly dialogue adjustments that I’ll make while coding the images into Ren’Py. Often times, there are lines that don’t quite match the images, so I usually need to either change those lines or delete them entirely.

As for what this update is about… just like I said before, Episode 1 will mostly focus on MC and Della. You’re going to see a lot of scenes with Della, learn more about their relationship and their past, do some fun activities here and there, meet new people, and many more things :p I can’t say too much because I’m afraid I might accidentally spoil something lol xD

IMAGES.
Now, for the images themselves, there’s been massive progress since my last DEVLOG post. I’ve finished approximately 2/3 of the scenes for this update. I’m currently working on the nightclub scene, which is about 4–5 scenes away from the ending. After this nightclub scene, the story will branch into two different paths that can lead you to completely different places and let you spend time with completely different people as well. Heck, depending on your choice in the nightclub, you’ll even start 0.3 in a different location ;) I hope that’s not too much of a spoiler lol xD

But believe it or not, making images for this update is definitely way more fun than before lol xD. I don’t exactly know why, maybe because the tone is lighter and less depressing this time. Previously, everything had to be serious since it was a dark scene, and that really limit what I could do. But in this update, I can finally play around with expressions and other stuff that I couldn’t do before. Poses, for example, since it’s not just standing/sitting anymore, I can experiment way more! Though I have to admit, it can still be stressful sometimes lol xD

Right now, I’m kinda stuck with the nightclub scene tbh, mostly because I’m still unsure how I should handle the lighting. Should I make it look like an actual nightclub with changing lights and effects, or keep it simple and dim with some neon-ish color tones? Each option has its own benefits, but right now I’m leaning more toward the simpler one. Still, idk—I’ll probably check some of the games in my library to see how other games handle nightclub lighting.

ANIMATION.
At the moment, I haven’t started working on the animations yet. I originally wanted to do them alongside the images, but I ended up getting cold feet and decided to save them for later. Why? Mostly because I’m scared lol xD

Animation is still a pretty “gray”, unexplored area for me. Things can easily go wrong, and it can get stressful real fast. That’s why I want to finish all the images first, so once I start animating I can focus entirely on that without worrying about the remaining images that I still need to make xD

Plus, it’s just way easier to concentrate on animation when it’s the only thing left to do lol.

CODE.
Now… there’s quite a lot happening in this section lol xD.
First of all, I’ve already coded the scripts into Ren’Py. The remaining 20% is mostly the image and animation code, which I’ll work on after everything else is wrapped up. I also need to add an additional choice-box icon for the sex scene, but that’s a small thing I’ll handle during the polishing phase.

I’ve also added some variable tracking for MC behavior in both 0.1 and 0.2. Because of that, starting a new game is recommended so these new variables are properly included in your save. There are a few things I’m tracking, but there are two main variables that will actually affect your story. It’s a simple system, nothing too fancy and I’ll probably tweak and improve it later on.

I actually need your opinion about these variables. Do you think I should keep the two main ones behind the curtain, or should I show them so players can see how their choices shape the MC’s behavior?

Personally, I’m leaning toward keeping them hidden so you can just play naturally without worrying about picking specific choices to maintain a certain behavior or affinity. But showing them could make things easier for you in the long run.

So yeah… what do you think? Should I show it, or keep it hidden?
