DEVLOG #9
Hello everyone~ How are you guys doing? I hope you all are doing fine.
So… to avoid making another overly long post like before, I’m gonna keep this one simple and straight to the point lol xD Alright, let’s talk about it.
WRITING.
Just like what you’ve seen in the image above, the writing for UBL V.0.2 is basically finished! The remaining 5% is mostly dialogue adjustments that I’ll make while coding the images into Ren’Py. Often times, there are lines that don’t quite match the images, so I usually need to either change those lines or delete them entirely.
As for what this update is about… just like I said before, Episode 1 will mostly focus on MC and Della. You’re going to see a lot of scenes with Della, learn more about their relationship and their past, do some fun activities here and there, meet new people, and many more things

I can’t say too much because I’m afraid I might accidentally spoil something lol xD
IMAGES.
Now, for the images themselves, there’s been massive progress since my last DEVLOG post. I’ve finished approximately 2/3 of the scenes for this update. I’m currently working on the nightclub scene, which is about 4–5 scenes away from the ending. After this nightclub scene, the story will branch into two different paths that can lead you to completely different places and let you spend time with completely different people as well. Heck, depending on your choice in the nightclub, you’ll even start 0.3 in a different location

I hope that’s not too much of a spoiler lol xD
But believe it or not, making images for this update is definitely way more fun than before lol xD. I don’t exactly know why, maybe because the tone is lighter and less depressing this time. Previously, everything had to be serious since it was a dark scene, and that really limit what I could do. But in this update, I can finally play around with expressions and other stuff that I couldn’t do before. Poses, for example, since it’s not just standing/sitting anymore, I can experiment way more! Though I have to admit, it can still be stressful sometimes lol xD
Right now, I’m kinda stuck with the nightclub scene tbh, mostly because I’m still unsure how I should handle the lighting. Should I make it look like an actual nightclub with changing lights and effects, or keep it simple and dim with some neon-ish color tones? Each option has its own benefits, but right now I’m leaning more toward the simpler one. Still, idk—I’ll probably check some of the games in my library to see how other games handle nightclub lighting.
ANIMATION.
At the moment, I haven’t started working on the animations yet. I originally wanted to do them alongside the images, but I ended up getting cold feet and decided to save them for later. Why? Mostly because I’m scared lol xD
Animation is still a pretty
“gray”, unexplored area for me. Things can easily go wrong, and it can get stressful real fast. That’s why I want to finish all the images first, so once I start animating I can focus entirely on that without worrying about the remaining images that I still need to make xD
Plus, it’s just way easier to concentrate on animation when it’s the only thing left to do lol.
CODE.
Now… there’s quite a lot happening in this section lol xD.
First of all, I’ve already coded the scripts into Ren’Py. The remaining 20% is mostly the image and animation code, which I’ll work on after everything else is wrapped up. I also need to add an additional choice-box icon for the sex scene, but that’s a small thing I’ll handle during the polishing phase.
I’ve also added some variable tracking for MC behavior in both 0.1 and 0.2. Because of that,
starting a new game is recommended so these new variables are properly included in your save. There are a few things I’m tracking, but there are two main variables that will actually affect your story. It’s a simple system, nothing too fancy and I’ll probably tweak and improve it later on.
I actually need your opinion about these variables. Do you think I should keep the two main ones behind the curtain, or should I show them so players can see how their choices shape the MC’s behavior?
Personally, I’m leaning toward keeping them hidden so you can just play naturally without worrying about picking specific choices to maintain a certain behavior or affinity. But showing them could make things easier for you in the long run.
So yeah… what do you think? Should I show it, or keep it hidden?

And here are some image previews/spoilers from the update I’m working on! Not gonna lie, I’m still kinda weak when it comes to bright/daylight scenes and wide camera angles lol. Definitely need to do a bit more research and practice on that later.
