npI will, don't worry. I'm thinking to use an image instead. But we'll see... Thanks for reminding me btw!![]()
Some ship with (lossless) PNGs, other devs started to look into compression, mostly to keep the file size in check (compromise). I believe almost everyone uses WebP for that. For video it's almost always VP9.What do the most popular games on here use?
IMO 60FPS is (smooth) enough, and I agree with the critique regarding the stiff animations posted above. Perhaps time is better spent trying to improve on that?Actually, I'm not sure eitherI mean it looks good now, but I want to see how it looks in 120FPS. Maybe the movement will be way more smooth? You never know.
I just want to experiment with it and see which one that work best for the game. And since you seem to know a lot about this, do you know what software that people usually use to compress the animation? I tried using MP4, but it didnt work with Renpy. Back then I use .OGV but nowadays the online converter kind of suck and make the animation way more blurry and pixelated

Apart from demanding a bit more from the CPU, I believe AVIF to be superior / the way forward (until, perhaps, RP starts supporting JPEG XL).WebP and WebM are the image and video formats you should be using. They offer the best balance between quality, size, and compression nowadays.
I know that it's pedobear, but I thought that it was just a meme and it's okay to use. But yeah, I'm gonna change that head costume for next update DevTalk just to be safe.np
Also, do you know about pedobear? In what appears to be your avatar character that apologizes in the scene after completion of 0.1, its wearing the pedobear mask. Not sure how some people will react to that but thought I'd point it out.
As for the animations, from what I can see they need a bit of work. When she was riding him while sitting in his lap, it was a little rigid and when she was getting dogged into the washing machine her ass had no ripples and her tits were completely solid. If you can get the physics down on those area's your animations will improve greatly. As for the camera angles, following the typical views would be good which usually falls into 3 view types... side view, top down or looking up depending on position and entry. There is also the facial view but that requires more work especially when trying to match the facial movements to coincide with how close they are to cuming.
Lastly, roadmaps to your predicted work load, I'd advise only doing dates for the next release instead of the next 2 releases as you never know what life will throw at you and how much time you'll have free to work on the project. At least then you'll only have to change the release date for one instead of two future releases if you hit a snag and need more time.
Thanks for the input! And yeah, I already compressed most of the audio into .ogg. HS2 could only render animation with WEBM V8 or V9 sadly. I've tried V9, but it took way longer to animate. Like triple the time to render. Hence why I decided to use V8 instead. I'm still kinda clueless when it comes to compression like this, so I need to learn moreIMO 60FPS is (smooth) enough, and I agree with the critique regarding the stiff animations posted above. Perhaps time is better spent trying to improve on that?
Forget online converter shit. A lot of ppl seem to useYou must be registered to see the links. You can always lurk around in the dev forum btw.
Btw,You must be registered to see the linksis a container format. Originally it supported VP8, later VP9 support was added, nowadays it also supports AV1.
VP8 is easier on the CPU, but VP9 compresses better at possibly better quality, and is kinda the default nowadays. Could well be that AV1 will be the default at some point though.
Since the arrival of VP8 you can regard Theora (what you're referring to when you mention .ogv I reckon) (derived from VP3 btw) in this regard as outdated/superseded.
You must be registered to see the linkshas a nice comparison table (the winner for CPU consumption should be VP8 though).
If you have lossless audio to compress, I'd opt for Opus (like pemoj mentioned) (or AAC, but RP doesn't support that).
Apart from demanding a bit more from the CPU, I believe AVIF to be superior / the way forward (until, perhaps, RP starts supporting JPEG XL).
you worry for the pedobear thingy? i would be more concerned for the nijisanji-like thing considering what they did.np
Also, do you know about pedobear?
I mean, this is an online forum, so you shouldn't be afraid to voice criticism of the game if that is how you feel.I can't even give you criticism, because people liked it, so i'm not even sure if i am the problem for not liking them, or those people are the problem for liking them(hard to explain, english is not my native language, yadayada).
I'm not sure what the nijisanji thing is. As for worrying, I wouldn't really say its worry. It's just a precaution against those people who are easily offended.you worry for the pedobear thingy? i would be more concerned for the nijisanji-like thing considering what they did.

Well, i wish you a satisfying success.
1- Read the premise above: it's not fear, it's more deep than that, as i implied(in the most obvious way possible), my opinion of this first release of the remake, is far from positive, i had negative expectations (i wrote them, expressed them, go look in previous pages) and this first release met those expectations, which is also a negative thing.1- I mean, this is an online forum, so you shouldn't be afraid to voice criticism of the game if that is how you feel.
I've made several posts over the years, and it's not always been praises of a release/update.
2- As long as you're respectful going about it (and post is not a personal attack towards the dev and folks who like his work), sure folks may not agree with it but they will still respect your opinion with "different strokes for different folks."
And if there are folks who get upset over your opinion? Well, they shouldn't be in an online forum in the first place if they're expecting an echo chamber.
3- Basically shirking away from posting critiques just cause how the other side may react?
Well, let's just say I played Eranfer's original version of this game like 6 years ago, and I like this remake version a lot more than that original version (hence most likely I would disagree with a lot of what you said lol).
Having said that, even I don't think it's a good thing for the game and Eranfer is all there's left in the thread is the Yes-men and no constructive critiques.
And folks I think (well, I hope) are more thick-faced than you'd expect, so I'm sure they won't be hurt by whatever you likely say.
The nijisanji thing is a vtuber scandal(trust me, the trigger warning would be: mobbing, workplace abuse, emotional abuse, two attempted suicide, peer pressure, bankrupt), where the CEO(or whatever) apologizes japanese-style, like Eranfer's avatar does in the release.I'm not sure what the nijisanji thing is. As for worrying, I wouldn't really say its worry. It's just a precaution against those people who are easily offended.
As for giving your criticism, considering you liked the older version of this avn, you really shouldn't hold back and let Eranfer know what you liked in the that version that you feel is missing from the new one.
I mean regardless of whether people know you or not; you said it yourself "I can't even give you criticism, because people liked it, so i'm not even sure if i am the problem for not liking them, or those people are the problem for liking them."Premise: my comment/opinion on this is not due to being shy or not wanting to share, but a polite "this game clearly isn't for me, so why should i comment the game?". People who know me or checked my review, know that i'm harsh but fair, my criticism can be brutal but never about things that aren't there or made-up stuff meaning that even when harsh, my words are based on things that are in the game and i stick to talk about those.
1- Read the premise above: it's not fear, it's more deep than that, as i implied(in the most obvious way possible), my opinion of this first release of the remake, is far from positive, i had negative expectations (i wrote them, expressed them, go look in previous pages) and this first release met those expectations, which is also a negative thing.
2- As i wrote in my premise: i'm harsh but fair, the issue is that my criticism is based on preferences this time, there is no bug, nothing objectively bad in this game (so far)
3- Like i wrote, it's not about how people may react, we're people on the net, no offense, but i don't affectionate enough to worry about a person's possible reaction(unless their reaction is an attempt to ban me...yes it happened even here). Like i said in point 2, mine wouldn't be constructive criticism, just me spewing my preferences, which i already did in my previous post when i said that i had my expectations and this release confirmed them, problem is my expectations are negative.

and i said that exactly because: i'm not sure if the game is bad, or it's just me not liking it but people did like it, so i don't know the answer to my own question. If the release/game was unanimously disliked, i wouldn't have problems with my own opinion(i mean in this websites "the majority decides if something is good or bad" by reviewing the game which allows the game to get a rating <- to be fair, the dev posted his remake in the original-game's thread...so the rating is already unfair at his own advantage, because an average rating of 4+ stars is a positive rating. Kinda like a new game+ mode XD he is getting all the advantages he got from the previous iteration of his Visual Novel, while his new remake has yet to get more than 2-3 reviews)I mean regardless of whether people know you or not; you said it yourself "I can't even give you criticism, because people liked it,
I don't think your response was bad or anything to hate, if anything you've pointed out a few things that could potentially be worked on in the future. An example of that would be adding a flashback scene or two to cover what happened the day the father was shot and also another to show the reason behind why his father dislikes the idea of Della being so close to the MC.and i said that exactly because: i'm not sure if the game is bad, or it's just me not liking it but people did like it, so i don't know the answer to my own question. i Yhink you misunderstood my question i want harem as i only pay harem games i just dont like when there is forced lesbian/bi stuf within the harem either way this reply tells me the game probably isnt for me based on needing multiple playthroughs to get all the LI's.Hmmm… how do I explain this? You see, the way I planned the game is a bit different. Not every main love interest likes each other. For example, LI D might hate LI C, and the story involving those two is actually set up so they’re against each other.
That’s why having both of them in the same harem isn’t possible. You’ll have to choose which harem you want to pursue. So far, I’ve planned three different harem groups.
And don't worry, you could still do SOLO route as well. Again, harem is optional. I planned to make everything optional lol xD
Fair enough mate I was just genuinely curious since I seen you a few times asking the same thing on other game threadsmost games that look interesting to me its more i dont want to spend time on a game that will force stuff on me i dont like
