Sadly yes it is... But you can't blame the reader/player for that... If I can't understand the text, or I have to double my efforts to read it, then of course I feel it hurts the product as a whole... I'm not going to just ignore it, and give a high rating (that should be expressive of the whole product) because everything else I thought was decent... It's the developers job to work through issues like poorly interpreted translations... The worst thing a developer can do is use those auto-translator programs and websites... They don't properly interpret the intended meanings and cultural differences from one language to another... And because of the diversity of English from one location to another, interpretation becomes much more prevalent when conducting any translation into English... And none of those auto-translation thingies are up to the task... I've even seen developers who've had someone go through their text to properly interpret a translation, and still get it wrong, because they didn't get the intended feeling/meaning across properly... Perhaps they used a wrong word, or the cultural reference didn't get altered to be better understood by the target English speaking audience... So it ends up being a meaningless reference, or feels out of place in the story... I've seen stuff like that all the time...I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by reading my terrible Frenglish
( that's also a factor of jugement on games XD )
And don't worry, even though I had to read your post multiple times, I believe I got the general meaning of what you were trying to say... Sadly I never got the chance to visit France while I was in the U.K.... One of my life regrets...
