What irritates me isn't even the fact that enemies are catching up to you at the speed of light.
It's the fact that the player, with limited resources (healing and, most importantly, fatigue), is forced to fight an endless number of enemies.
If it were like in Dark Souls - until I enter a town, new enemies don't appear - exploration would be much more enjoyable. Especially considering the player has no map or navigators. Of course, I'm an old-school player, back when guides were on pieces of paper or didn't exist at all-but this is terrible game design (something on par with the invisible, constantly attacking enemies in other games).
