Try and find a way to reach the waterway on the right side of the map, reach the lower section of said waterway and turn to the left side, at the end there should be a lever to lower the pillar.
The time limit only trigger when you first time go into the village if you haven't went in there the quest time limit doesn't trigger

I'm close, I can feel it. I perfected Max's quest and got him to the Shrine village, got perfect fragment thingy, but the ending is still not the lover one. Maybe Hilda's quest would be the key.

You first met him at the alley down the entertainment district at night. A slave hunt will try to kidnap you and he save you from that. Then head to slave town go to the building next to the Slave tower then talk to the women in charge there she says "he went out" then wait for a day he will show up there and you can start the quest (recommend save the slave next area near oz sanctuary so she give you the token to travel to Slave town easier)

The Al before the end of questline (the one that is supposed to be an orphan) is a doppelganger, which can imitate the outside and voice of human but not the memory.
