Better application is for browsing Unity assets, while it can be used to extract it won't let you import.
Very useful for searching through an asset for textures visually, versus text only.

To answer your question, it's for .assets files located in basically every Unity game's data folder.

After you extract the files out, what do you use to view them? The .fbx file has no meshes and the animation controller .dat files don't seem to be usable.
