I think this dev is evaluating it as not being worth it to continue, because effort vs people consuming the content. The trouble is if you keep making new games in hopes that one of them will go viral and you keep abandoning, or cutting short other games, people will see that and hold it against you. The one thing I think most devs fail at is consistent releases. If they just deliver on time, every time their game will inevitably grow. Of course if their game is written like a chimpanzee with a crayon wrote it and none of the plot makes sense and the characters are one dimensional fuck dolls, or if they are extremely unlikeable, this counts doubly for a bad mc, it might not take off. Try to avoid these mistakes by playing other popular games and seeing why people like them and then try to replicate that success.
