I'll try to answer your questions about development cycle based on my experiences,so you can have a better understanding,because posts like yours will be usually met with hostility,even if they are genuine,cause there are a lot of entitled assholes and everyone is tired of them. First of all it's really hard to make something on your own,seriously,it's hard. So take into consideration whether it's a team or a one man.There is inceton games who has like 20 people,and they release big updates every month,and currently have 3 games in development,simply because they have manpower to do so . on the other hand you have people like dr.pink cake who is the dev of being a dik and philly,who is making city of broken dreamers,and no one is expecting an update from them sooner than 4-5 months because that's how long it takes,and they are a full time devs and they make a lot more money than Carbon and most of the others,money is of course another aspect,the more money you have the more you can do,buy better equipment or add licensed music and so on,plus everyone has a life apart drom developing,most have to work irl as well,cause there aren't many who earn enough to go full time,everyone needs some fun and family time,can get sick or whatever. There are ofc milkers,people like come inside dev who makes like 2 wallpapers each month and still have over 1000$,and the last CI update was a year ago,usually if the dev is bullshiting a lot,constantly missing release dates and so on,you can tell he's milking.
