The main thing with me at least, is that i play to have fun and feel good, to have drama, shit days, problems, i have my day to day. Don't mean that i cannot like the game how is, but is really low in my priorities to play, since i prefer a good story, and something that make me fell good. Some games can do that without even having a lot of porn, just a good story, and something that you can say "damn, that was amazing". But this is my preference, everyone can like something different.
Games with good stories and good narrations tend to last longer and are more appreciated. Given how important this game is to Waifston, I can sympathize with him wanting to create a longlasting story for his game.

The old version is at a dead end because its system is too shallow. There is nothing to tell and show apart from an accumulation of new characters to seduce.

The new version has too many story flaws. It is starting from the wrong foot and if it goes on, it will crumble at some point.
The old version was at 30-40% percent of it's progression at best. There were, not too serious but ongoing or unresolved plotlines, like the church, Alice's progression, the trip, the supposed rich girl that was never shown, many areas being unaccessible, side characters barely being shown, the possible Sofia pregnancy, the main girls going to serious from where they were. Saying it couldn't go anywhere isn't true, but of course it wouldn't had any overarching story like saving your mom from the forces of evil.

The new version has possibilities, but already poorly presented and very generic in every sense of the word.

Dude, I just came here to fap! Why are you guys making me depressed?
Fapping is fun and all... but I actually feel compassion for the author because he is torn in the Internet bashings arena on a new media to master.

I think this is one of the few reasons why certain people have not abandoned this game. People are sympathetic to Waifston, he seems like a nice guy. A nice guy who makes a lot of questionable choices, but I think people can see that he is dedicated.

True. The game was not as its peak. But even at its peak (with everything unlocked), it would still be mediocre - apart from the animations. If you want a brainless wank, it is okay. But for some people - some aren't even interested in wanking -, you need a good story to follow. And if you look at the top-rated and appreciated game on this website, for most of them they have this story that keeps you close to it.

Maybe that is the reason for why this game is so appreciated : people are sympathetic to Waifston, this nice guy that is not really good at telling a story but still tries while being a marvelous crack on technical things - animations.

It's an hypothesis.

You are not wrong, if Waifston goes back to work on the old version he will turn the game into a fuckfest. Whoever played the Christmas episode knows what I'm talking about.

I agree 100%! He is very good at making animations and renders.

Yeah, unfortunately that also needs strong characters and motivations, that is exactly where the premium falls flat on its face at the moment in my opinion even if I forget about old game. Old story was maybe hard to get deeper in, but that was exactly where it went wrong after the reintroduction of Alice. The strength of the game was that it did not go deeper and did not have that overblown drama. Waifston removed the heart of the game and what many of its players were enthusiastic about in his wish for a deeper story and more drama.

Now that is his good right to want that, but it is also why so many people dislike what happened and why many old players will leave and hopefully for him his changes will attract new players to game to replace them for him. It is in the end simply a disagreement of direction of game between dev and part of the players.

Edit: Yeah fact dev is basically a nice guy, hard working and communicative makes me want to root for him and like the premium edition. The first I will continue to do, the second unfortunately is beyond me. :)

That is why I feel he needs to redo the story. Give it a true substantial meaning while keeping the light-hearted atmosphere people knew.

But since he already messed up his first time, he should also work on the old version to keep his patreons interested, create new animations and situations that can make the transition with his premium edition. Yes, this is hard. But when you mess up there are consequences.

Mediocre? maybe as a story game. As a lighthearted sex romp it could have been well above average if Waifston had kept that tone and had gone all in for that, just look at a game like Midlife crisis or Sisterly lust. It is just how you look at it. :)

We need to get our feet on the ground, Waifston is not going to make any drastic decisions. We'll be lucky if he keeps working on something. He says there's no problem, but I don't think he's interested in working on the old version again. And if he works, I doesn't think he will be so dedicated. I may be wrong.

Mediocre as : not bad nor good. Just your run-of-the-mill game that has nothing more to it. Just good for fapping.

I actually think Waifston has a good materiel for a nice story...

Well I agree with you that the premium def needs a serious rework if he wants to continue it, but then waifston really gets into damned if you do and damned if he does not territory. That is also under the assumption he even agrees and does not like the new characters and story better himself. :) Truth is there is no easy answer as such, though likely best is to go back to drawing board and rewrite characters and storyboard for the premium and dim down those characters by a lot and give them more sides that make them likeable and relatable and possibly do what people suggested and change the names and models and make it a new game completely.

Unfortunately that also means that Waifston would need to change and rework a lot of the conflicts and logic behind them.

That is where we disagree, to me the game was good as it was till reintroduction of Alice, not mediocre. It worked very well even if not a heavily story driven game. From my sigs you might see I am a big fan of really good story driven games but that does not mean I cannot really appreciate a lighter game that does that lighter really well, just it seems in hindsight that was not the devs intention with the game. :)

That is why everything he does for the classic version needs to be oriented to his premium version. It would be simplier if he did not screw his premium version the first time - he could have worked directly on it if there was a consensus. But that's not the case.

In short, in your opinion what should Waifston do? Don't get me wrong, my curiosity is genuine. It's just that I didn't think of anything he can do to fix things. Should he redo the DEMO? What is that? Is the remake of the remake's DEMO?:LOL::LOL:

I think this change can be made from little things. For example, keep the conflict between Elena and the protagonist be. Find a reason the latter is TRULY responsible for to make Elena refuse the recommandation to him. Keep the aggressive and wild mother, still doing her rebellious things, up to the point she is truly confronted to true despair and has no choice but to surrender to the aunt - in a light and comedic manner.

It is made of so little things that can be resolved from dialogues first.
