Look, it is up to you on what to play. The original more or less mainstreamed some aspects of the game (or just made it "fancier"). The FNF mod was more or less "Eh, fuck it. Since we are already here, might as well include the new stuff in the original update" sentiment. The hiatus of the original was..... worrying to some since this title has been cursed because the very first concept of the game got dropped off, twice, before getting picked up by Nergal but the hiatus showed signs of the curse affecting Nergal too. And due to that, lots of "spin-offs" or games that is kinda like "Urban Demons" popped up but also got dropped.
The FNF mod was an amalgamate of different people in trying to keep it alive till Nergal returns but due to the length of the hiatus, it became its own thing with collection of different stuff from multiple people (it even had trouble keeping the curse at bay because the main person of the mod got tired of the mod too but the collective hivemind kept the mod going) so by the time Nergal came back with the milk, the people who made FNF mod was unable to drop it on its own so they just added the scenes that was added to the original game till it got completed.
