After wrapping up Chapter III: Part I, we gave ourselves one day to breathe… and then immediately dove straight into Part II. No rest for the wicked, right?
This week has been all about
lighting.
We’ve started applying new lighting techniques shared with us by
Stone Fox Studios, and we’re more than pleased with the results. That said—this new workflow definitely shook things up. It’s a very different method than what we’re used to, and some scenes take a bit longer to set up properly. But honestly? The results are absolutely worth it.
We’re already sitting at
100 renders in, with writing following at a steady pace.
On top of that, we've been working on a few extra improvements—like
localized subtitles. Whenever a character speaks in another language (for example, Italian), you'll now see a small translated subtitle below their dialogue. Clean, simple, and much easier to follow.
Of course, switching to the new lighting system came with its own chaos.
We had to
rework several character textures and skins to make them compatible, and that little adventure ate about
five hours of pure madness. Mentally exhausting? Yes. Worth it? Definitely. The updated characters genuinely look better than before.
As always, we're pushing as hard as we can to keep development moving fast.
And if everything goes well—meaning no rival family takes us out or someone doesn’t drop a nuke on the Arcane Ink HQ—you can expect
Chapter III: Part II to arrive
by the end of this month.
This isn’t a carved-in-stone promise, but it
is our honest projection. Worst case, we’re talking an extra 3–4 days… not 3–4 months.
So far?
Smooth as smooth can be.
