This is not an indicator, the distribution weighs 1.7 GB, if you install a clean version of VaM, it will work just as fast
Yes, that said, I tested the launch time with an empty scene by default on the two versions and in comparison with my current version (58 seconds for 973 GB), I received a slap.

VAM 1 (18.7GB): 9 seconds
VAM 2 (1.79GB): 6 seconds

Somebody have informations about optimizing package management ? I hope it will be improved because currently, on the VAM1, it's a disaster.

Well that Beta was... beta. Kinda surprised it took this long to get just this out it's way more barebones then I would have thought unless the next one is hot on it's heels with more functions and this is just the initial start.

There are settings at the bottom and in order to trigger VR mode you have to enable both XR settings. You won't be able to interact with anything as that will be in later betas.
I'm too stupid to find this xr settings. If i load vam2 in desktop mode I do not see any XR settings. Can you please show where I can find this?
thx in advance

If VAM2 intends to do any type of packages/addon containers, there needs to be some kind of enforcement mechanism built in to help combat duplication of assets so people don't get their installs bloated so easily
You can try Var Browser for VAM1
But I warn you, it is tricky to install and it will unlink existing scenes from assets. All the dependecies a particular scene needs will load automatically after first use, but let's say if you have some clothes not used by any scene you will have to click on them once in the new clothes browser. Same with hair and assets. Your appearance, morphs, skin etc. presets are safe and do not require any recovery. You also need to learn to use the new browser.

What you gain in return is:
- much faster load times (after loading a scene for the first time)
- saving drive space (you can get rid of texture cache folder which can get absurdly big in size and loading times will be faster anyway)
- automatic search button for duplicate and old var files (they will be moved to InvalidPackages folder)

This is not for everyone, but if you are tired of bloated VAM folder and long loading times this may be the solution for you.

That...is not a beta.
Just to clarify: as I remember correctly Alpha test phase means it is for insiders only, Beta is for public whom wants to participate. These two words means nothing more.
If anybody thought it will be better than VaM1 at current state with bazilion plugins then please think again. Not all features of VaM1 existing now was in the first released version. Hm? In addition: many of them (built in features) based on addons made by community members. Do you remember what can you do with a fresh installed version of VaM1?
Yeah, the progress speed is pretty disappointing, but it will be done when it's done.

VAM1 even before the addons had both male and female u could create scenes. The roadmap in which VAM 2 is rn is far from being a beta. Check it out if u havent. Because im strictly looking at the roadmap the devs are rn with the development.

Also im still patient with VAM2 bcs VAM1 has everything i need anyway. So ill let em cook.

Just a little reminder that most of Vam1 features was created by community. Most of useful plugins, 4/8k skins, looks etc.

if Game have a strong community (and vam does) it can elevate every Game to insane level so dont judge too quickly.

meshed just deliver a tool. Community will do the rest
I know all of this, but as you said it, to get vam2 close to the state vam1 is, it will take years for the community to do that AFTER vam2 launches who know when. Besides, we would have expected that Meshed gained experience with vam1 creation and in 6, 6!! years he would have something to show way better that this. So it seems like what i was thinking about he being lazy on purpose to keep receiving money wasnt that wrong after all. My dissapointment is unmeasurable and my day is ruined.

Could someone help me with the beta? When I start VAM2 beta, everything seems to work as expected and looks like this: Screenshot 2025-04-02 153400.png

But after a few seconds (when loading is finished) the screen changes to this: Screenshot 2025-04-02 153406.png

Is there something wrong with my settings?

I just tested and it's very promising!

Here is what I took a look of 3 minutes:
  • Very fast loading temp (no fuss, that's what we ask)
  • The UI, more effective, is resizing at will and not limited as on VAM 1
  • Undo/Redo! (It's the dream for me)
  • I find a good performance and stability for a beta, despite the collision conflict in the scene (file downloaded above)
I will retest later but for the moment, I remove everything I said, Vam 2 may make a box.

Congratulations to the developers !
  • I would be surprised if the loading time was long. It's just a bare engine with few assets.
  • Seriously? The UI looks clunky, like from 3D modeling programs from two decades ago. People complained about the UI in VAM1, and this is definitely worse. But it's a thing that is likely to change a lot from the beta version. I'm almost sure you could resize the UI in VAM1.
  • That's a welcome feature.
  • Same as the first point. Try zooming in at hair and watch your fps die.
