around the time intensive care came out they started changing the models quite drastically to a more "realistic" approach which looked real uncanny on some characters tbh, over the past 2-3 years the models seem to have improved more and more again so maybe they were waiting to settle on a look that works better before investing a lot of time and energy into a big project that might not turn out that well if people wouldnt like the models.
for me the thing that looked the weirdest were the faces and the way the legs were proportioned, with a lot of quads but almost no hamstrings, both of these have improved lately tho. D.va and Tifa maybe still need a bit more work imo

Took D.va as example because imo she has suffered the most from the switch from more cartoonish look to more realistic look.
And I feel like the OW cinematics or artists like ForceballFX or Yeero show pretty well how you can achieve very high quality on those models while still staying true to the more cartoonish appearance from ingame. For example the eyelashes on them are usually solid so giving them more normal eyelashes is hard to do without making them look weird.
It's starting to get better again tho every time they tweak the models, so a few more updates down the line they are gonna be perfect
Whenever I've seen the new Tifa or Jessie pics or animations, they've creeped me out. When they're smiling, the faces look too triangular to be realistic. It's more creepy than anything to me.

One of my pet peeves. Artists need to change the lighting more when they use dark male models imo.

85 are amazing but Im missing ashe getting knotted and a preggo versions btw VG has a thing for widow right? she seems to have the most variants of all girls on multiple works, also why does animation 69 have so many girls doing the same animation? btw what its this suppose to be?
