Update: Games played since the thread started.

On recomendation by Scrumbles, I decided to download Dr Amana, I put everything else on hold och promptly played my way through it. Impressions: Very impressive generally. Clever writing, dialogue and structure, interesting MC, cute/sexy characters and lovely renders – the full package really. But what about the trans content? Well, not bad at all. However, there's only one scene implemented yet so I it's a bit too early to tell. The trans character – Lola – is quite gorgeous, which is a plus, she is also quite nicely developed (not much of a backstory yet but definitely with her own, convincing, personality) and the sex scene has some options, not just the obligatory blowjob/penetration (actually hawt! If you like the things I like). That said, there's not a huge range of options for it, but that's not really to be expected for a first sex scene, and there is so far no way to romance her. I'm hoping that will change but so far she is listed as a ”contact” rather than as a ”lover” which is a bit concerning. Also a bit of a shame that she is a stripper/hooker since that feels a somewhat predictable, but I can see that it would have been hard to get her into the story in another way. Maybe when our MC has gotten his revenge he can offer her a job as his ... well, something, whatever taht isn't quite so cliché instead. Anyway, a solid, upper-echolon category 2 so far, might end up a category 1 when the game is finished.

More games with actual Futas! Starship Innanna, Neko Paradise and Wicked Choices. As stated before, I'm not a huge fan of actual futas, I much prefer if there are testicles in place and no extra hole, but if the storyline makes sense in a futa context, I'll accept it. And that is the case with these three games, a sci-fi game and two fantasy games.

First up, Wicked Choices, Book One. A game with a lot of qualities and that I enjoyed a lot but with a serious lack of male-to-futa action. So far the only available scene is a scene with one of the female characters giving a blowjob to a futa, after a previous scene where she watched the futa having sex with a very unsexy elderly monk. It does look there's more action in the pipeline, but considering how long the game already is, the lack of male-on-futa (or vice versa) is a bit disapointing. Category 3 so far, but with room to grow.

Neko Paradise is … extremely cute. Nekos aren't a big thing with me but these are adorable (most of them anyway). However, there's only one scene with the (optionally) futa kitty, and it's not very interesting unfortunately. In fact, the game calls her a futa, but so far we don't even know if she is a futa or a misnomed trans. Again, room to grow, but so far definitely a category 3.

Finally, Starship Innanna. Now, the easiest comparison would probably by Tales of the Unending Void. Space, starships, adventures and futas! Looks good, engaging story, well written characters, all the good stuff. The futa (Tarik Rin) is nice, and you can interact with her (non sexually) in a more diverse way than in many other games. Too bad she has no testicles or I would have liked this one even more (am I the only one who thinks it looks just so strange with that penis insertion into where the balls really should be? I mean, the visuals are ... a bit creepy), but if futas are your thing, by my own measuring system this is a category 2, with some more diverse sexual options this might in the future even be a category 1.

Also Daydream and High Jinx! Easily summarized: Don't bother.

There are a few games with trans main characters and perhaps some of the other readers here can chip in with suggestions regarding that, I've primarily focused (and still are) on games where the MC is a male and interacts with trans characters. Different kind of games really. But to be honest, what would be really good is if someone who actually identifies as trans would review those games, because I'm not certain that I would be able to evaluate them in a meaningful way, not having the same knowledge and experience or - perhaps most importantly - the same perspective. I know there are a few readers here who identify as trans, but I'm not sure if they've found their way to this thread.

I'm not sure if I'm actually trans per se but this is definitely what I was looking for rather than just fetish bait.

There are a few games that handle MTF transition via magical means, I don't know if I'd go so far as to say they do things right but they do sort of cater for this. Healslut very OBVIOUSLY pushes the player into a constant array of lewd situations but it's pretty good about consensuality and being opt in. Interns of Ecstasy Island doesn't exactly allow the MC to be happy about their transformation which happens right at the start of the game and forces their identity to be bi with an extremely heavy tilt towards being interested in men but still they do get a magical transformation. Magical Camp is a slow, slow burn that doesn't yet let the main character become anything more than moderately accepting of their transformation but it does happen slowly and might eventually be the best. The only romance options are straight/lesbian for now. My life as a maiden is by far the most on point in my view however it deals with a 24/7 crossdressing main character who generally prefers male pronouns.

This is something I'm very tempted to tackle myself, but I'm held back by lack of experience in every relevant field so I'm not sure it would ever go anywhere. Not to mention if I wasn't prepared to (optionally) fetishise the main character it would probably be extremely niche.

With regards to Midlife Crisis, I'm a big fan of the game. I do have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the good words for Tracy. With regards to the MC, he's not a "real predator" but the premise of the game is that he chose to be more predatory (the midlife crisis). And on the porn game vs adult VN scale, it's definately on the porn side.

I wouldn't say that he became more predatory. It's more on the side of the self restraint that there's a difference. His sister is the only girl that he had to actively seduce. For the others, his daughters included, he just responded to what they did. He just decided that, "you're too young" and, "you're from my family" wasn't reasons good enough to say "no".

Totally agree. It's really exceptional to see a sissy accept his fate not out of lust, but out of reason. And the game is well wrote.

How about this, meet you halfway? The tag "futa/trans" should atleast be split up into two so that everyone can make up their own minds whether the game is for them or not?

That is my one complaint about the site. Well that and how breast expansion gets lumped into the transformation tag, though for that I understand, because if you have a seperate tag for each transformation type you end up with like a bazillion new tags. What's weird though is that I've noticed that things that get the futa/trans tag are actually never trans, there's only futa and the westernized version of futa. There's only 2 instances I can think of where something had that tag and the artist explicitly made it clear that a character was trans. Though to be fair I've only gone through the first 6 pages of the futa/trans tag, so maybe almost all of the actual trans content is buried at the bottom of the search results or something.

Indeed, there are more games since, many of which I've played, some which I haven't. Also, some games, like Neko Paradise have evolved and moved up the ladder, others have been aboned and should be taken off. I've been thinking about an updated list for a while but procrastinating. When I wrote the first part I'd been laid low with covid for five weeks, just recuperating and playing games, since then life has kept me more busy. But you're right, if you start something you should see it through, so expect a slightly less wordy but more up to date list of trans games in the near future.

So, having been asked to update this document (and having thought of it myself multiple times) I've decided to update the whole list, in a slightly easier format, So this is the present format:

1. Great games and a line or two of why they are.
2. Games with potential and a line or two of why they are
3. Games that aren't there yet, or might never be and a line or two about why.
4. Avoid.

Simple enough, right? So, if you compare this list to the one on the first page you'll see that some games have moved position (upwards) because they're more fleshed out now and some are in the same place. That could be because they haven't been updated, or the updates haven't evolved the trans content or in some cases because I haven't played the update (yet). There are also new games on the list, no wonder since it's nine months or more since I created the thread to begin with. Worth noting is that the position on the list compared to another game in the same bracket (1-4) is irrelevant, only the category of rating is relevant. If you just found this and started at the end, Irecommend starting from the beginning of the thread where every game is more in-depth described. Any, enough procrastinating, let's do this,

1. ”Games that genuinely gets the trans content right”
   
   Male MC – interacts with trans characters:
   
   Lunars' Chosen – Even better with the latest updates. Still awesome and a must-play for trans aficionados.
   
   Fetish Collector – Lyssa has gotten a lot of screen time in recent updates and we are just so, so grateful. Lyssa FTW, Fetish Collector FTW.
   
   Midlife Crisis – Somewhat controversial it seems, created a discussion earlier in this thread. But I love Tracy so here we are. No updates featuring her lately though, shame.
   
   Exiles - One of the best and funniest games around, dev TimePants is a joy to interact with and between Tahir and Astrid there should be something for everyone. Needs an update.
   
   Summertime Saga – Eve is still such a cutie and it's still done right, but as it is there might not be anymore content with her, which would be a shame, still, a great game.
   
   The New Me - Had a great start and a lot of focus on trans LIs, but is in danger of being tagged Abandoned, hasn't been updated ina long while. Would be a shame if that happened.
   
   The Life of Desmond – New on the list. With Ginny and Ally (trans version of Jason) in play this looks very interesting. Art isn't great and has some narrative problems but in terms of enthusiasm and openess this is already a winner. Looking forward to more updates.
   
   Family Affair – New on the list. Updates often. Two trans characters, both adorable. Story makes little sense at times but who cares when you can hang out with Syd (though not a big fan of the MC I must admit).
   
   Apt 69 – Moved up a category since dev started working on it again. No sex scenes yet (with the trans character Nea) but just the love and tenderness MC shows for her is heartwarming. And if you played Luxee's previous game then you know it's a safe bet that the sex scenes will be pretty intense. So, I'm moving this up, albeit a bit prematurely.
   
   Still category 1 but Trans MC instead (not really my thing but some of them are very good games in their own right and deserve to be on the list)
   
   Shattered – So ambitious (and time consuming) but a fascinating story and very well written overall. Good renders, great dialogue. If trans MC is not a turn off for you then go for it. Updates regularly and the updates are usually massive. Needs several playthroughs to see all content and absolutely needs a walkthru because it is rather labyrinthine.
   
   Healslut – Beautiful art and very funny. Again, if you don't mind trans MC then go for it, but if you prefer you can play it as a female MC.
   
   Inner Growth – Another very good looking game and not a bad story at all. With a bunch of added kinks like peeing and pregnant characters this is highly reccd for the pervs out there. Yeah, guilty.
2. "Games with potential"
   Neko Paradise– Moves up a category since the game has had a few updates and the (optionally) trans character's gotten more screen time. Still, would like to see more of her.
   Dr Amana – Has had a major update since, but did not include Lola in it (still great game though). Dev has hinted at more activity for Lola later on, let's hope that's the case.
   
   WVM – See page one. Has had several updates but the same problems remain.
   
   A Clever Name – New game on the list. Very simple art, but a fun romp and the trans character actually got a bit of character development in the last update. Worth playing. Lots of peeing for those who enjoy that.
   
   Gates Motel – sadly Abandoned.
   
   Starship Inanna – Space, starships, adventures and futas (rather than trans). So if that's your thing, go for it. Very similar to:
   
   Tales from the Unending Void – Great game from a great dev. Again, if futas are your thing then you should've played this already. Still waiting for a bit more development of those characters.
   
   Twisted World – This game is craaazy man. But it's fun. And the renders are eye catching (think Koikatsu on acid). Worth a try just for the hilarious insanity of it all.
   
   Life Happpened – almost a cat. 1 game, the trans character is great and should have been a possible permanent LI rather than the rather bland female LI. Pity.
   
   The Shrink – It's a fun romp. And it's grown on me as it's been updated, more options and more trans characters. Don't expect any character development or realistic portrayals however, that's not what this game does. It really should be in cat. 3, but y'know... fun.
   
   SpaceCorps – Still more focused or straight/gay stuff, but there is certainly is strong possibility that a trans character will suddenly take center stage because this dev (awesome dev by the way) does EVERYTHING. This game is like Rule 34 in game-form.
   
   Braveheart Academy – Was abandoned but seems to active again, haven't played the restarted version. The fans seemed a bit upset by something when I glanced at the thread.
   
   Panacea – I love this game, but the trans character is not a reason to play it (so far), however, that can change obviously. Female MC as well which could be a deal breaker.
   
   The City of Broken Dreamers – Up one category since some readers kindly called attention to the fact that in a later update the trans character had been developed a bit. Still, is it just me who thinks it's a bit … boring? It's so beautiful and well made in every aspect, but it just doesn't grab my attention. Maybe it's just me. Sorry.
   
   FutadomWorld – It's a rather simple game, MC is in world where trans women are the dominant species and he gets dommed a lot. But the art looks good and if you're into it you might enjoy this. I'm giving it a cat 2 instead of 3 because of the original art.
3. " Games that misses the opportunity, for a number of reasons.”
   Not going to spend a lot of words on these games. Don't play them for the trans characters, those are underdeveloped and/or misused, play them if they seem to have something else that interest you. I cannot stress that enough, some of these are really good games in their own right, it's just that this particular part of them hasn't really gone as far as it could have. OK?
   Shelter – added a futa character a while ago. We'll see where it goes.
   Frihetsjord – Early in development. Dev also makes another game (and has done one previously) with trans characters. Very simple graphics and engrish. Still, some interesting ideas.
   Castaways – Batshit crazy. Early in development. Fun though.
   Transsex Education – Played this. Left absolutely no memory.
   Futa Groves – Insane game. Looks pretty awful. For those who like their MC to be dominated by huge trans characters.
   Ruin Me - Actually a great game in some respects, well written and atmospheric (the art is more of an aquired taste I think), but the trans character is not a good reason to play it (you can be one though, if that's more your thing).
   Maou-Sama/Deadlocked in Time – controversial, shall we say. And let's leave it at that.
   Allison of the Apples – same as before (see pg 1). Same dev as The Shrink.
   Wicked Choices, Book One – No updates in a while.
   Taffy Tales – still hoping for some development for Danny …it IS a good game though.
   Personal Trainer – Has potential …
   Depravity – The game that made me start writing this in the first place. See my rant on pg 1 for details.
   Indecent Desires – Sandbox. Oh God, the grind. But according to rumors the dev has added more scenes that are relevant to this thread, except my savefiles are gone so I have to replay it from the start. God help me.
4. ”Avoid”:

And while I still think that her beach scene isn't wrote correctly, later in the game she gave a small explanation, that make sense, about her reaction, making me love her again as trans character.

Not necessarily. It was prefixed as it by the staff due to the lack of updates and news from the author. It always was a game with a slow update rate, so it can just be the author who's too busy in real live.
There few games like that, that regularly end being marked as "abandoned", when suddenly a wild update appear.

SpaceCorps – Still more focused or straight/gay stuff, but there is certainly is strong possibility that a trans character will suddenly take center stage because this dev (awesome dev by the way) does EVERYTHING. This game is like Rule 34 in game-form.

They don't really fall on the trans category, but there's already the daemons-like characters that are hermaphrodites. And if I remember correctly the list of fetishes that the player can agree to see, or discard, include a "tranny" one.
But anyway since the whole story happen in a really far future, I doubt that there will be effective trans content. Either it will be an alien race that is naturally "like that", or trans will already have had a full body change (surely possible with the technology of this time). But it's still possible to have a trans character that opted for a partial transition, and by example decided to kept his dick.

Thanks Olheden! Trans isn't one of the bigger routes in SpaceCorps - but I rarely know myself which kinks or characters will suddenly push their way into the limelight! Lady Ashtaroth will continue to have an important role in the plot [and since she's First of the Imps, that implies there may be others ] I also have two other trans/futa characters confirmed, a bunch of gender-bender sequences when the mad science part of SciCorps gets going, and the occasional non-binary alien species

One of the things I did with futa/trans in SpaceCorps is to break down the kink in the 'Gender Orientation' part of Psychometrics. You can choose from a spectrum of: solo trans, futa with females only, futas who get fucked by males, futas who fuck males, all of the above, or none. If you pick any of them, you get a Gender Bender Kink card. Only solo futa, futa-on-female and futa-on-male currently have content. [Yes, I have made this very complicated The game does all the picking in the background by tracking your choices.]

That's the problem for all settings that aren't in modern times.

When you put your universe in a far future with aliens and all, it's difficult to place transgenders. You're selling to the players a tons of things that are simply unbelievable, among them there's generally spray/laser/whatever that heal deep injuries in less than one hour. And in the same time you expect the players to believe that humanity simply forgot something that is a reality actually, transition surgery.
It doesn't mean that a character can't be transgender (MtF for the example), but either you'll see her before the transition, and you'll be facing a 100% male body, or you'll see her after the transition, and you'll be facing a 100% female body. This simply because with all the technology of this universe, it will be done in at most one week, against years actually ; therefore there's no "in between" state. The character is still a transgender, but it's either not appealing for the players (the 100% male body) or invisible for them (the 100% female body). And "oh, your dick is bigger/smaller than the one I used to have" isn't something easy to place in the discussion
In the end, the characters will be either dickgirls or hermaphrodites by birth and, since it's their natural state, they should act (and so be wrote) in a different way than transgenders.

As for past/fantasy settings, if the transition is possible it will be through some magic and, once again, there's then no reason to stop mid transition. Therefore the futa will be here also either dickgirls fantasy specie or hermaphrodites, and it will be their natural state.

Re: Personal Trainer, oh, so that last update was the final one? Missed that as I didn't play it. Will do, although it seems unlikely to change the rating.
Re: Wicked choices. Well yes, book one is finished but there was an epilogue to book 2 that came out and even if I agree that the chance that it will be continued seems remote I didn't want to consider it abandoned until that is confimed.
