Even in his Patreon post way back in March, he asked how he could gain more Patreon subscribers, and people clearly commented things like “frequent updates” and “more interaction with free members.” But he’s doing the opposite.
If you provide frequent updates like once every two months and stay active and transparent about the game’s schedule on Patreon, even free members will start to feel guilty. They'll think,
“Oh, he’s really doing his best to produce high-quality updates in such a short time, and I’m playing this game for free. Maybe I should support him.” That’s reverse psychology, and it works many game creators use this strategy to gain more financial support.
Now, his Patreon subscriber count has dropped from 1,490 yesterday to 1,473 today. I can’t blame the paid members for withdrawing their support. I’d do the same. If I were paying $3 and the creator suddenly announced that the update would be split into two par like, are you serious?
This was the most anticipated update because many subscribers, free members, and even I are fans of Tomoe—and now her content is being pushed to part 2 next month (allegedly)? That’s just disappointing.
