Kenichi is not her employer. It is someone from the board of Zaibatsu. If Jira has only one contract, it is already known who protects MC.
This question is better asked to Irphaeus. The game doesn't say this yet. Except for the scene with Kayane after the broken phone. When she suspects that MC is hiding something.
One way or another, we'll find out soon. Unless the second part of the "biggest update" promised COMPLETELY by July... comes out in a year.

Kayane remains a huge mystery. We still don't know anything about her purposes and, if she has one, about her masterplan. No doubt, she has a penchant for the MC and she definitely doesn't want him to get hurt. And she also might need him for her own plans for taking revenge on Kenichi, his family or whatsoever. She is a sophisticated girl and knows that the MC is smart too -- the only possible ally in this sea of Waifu-blockheads around her for what she is going to do. So that could be a reason for using Jira as a MC-protector.

Well I agree but, she did help Kenichi, Katsuya and Tochiro to set him up in the college Toilets... If she does have a plan and want his help that was not a good way to smooth things up and ask for help, she asked him to keep an eye on Yukiko but was not too honest as to why...

And I would really like that the dev continues on this track, the main story's basics, instead of using these extreme long pauses for expanding story's sidetracks.

Agree, all these side track is kind of distracting from the main goal...I mean MC came with a purpose , to discover the truth not to go around and be the errand boy for all those people

Well, Kayane is in my top 5 girls in the whole game even with that event...Because she did fight of Yoko for MC so that she shut the f up... And considering that i sense some kind of sad back ( I might be wrong on that , time and Dev will tell if i am write and if we ever see any of her backstory) MC will probably help her in everything...

The point is that Kayane does not have yet the ultimate trust in the MC ... by the way vice versa. Do you remember this highly interesting and (to me) quite touching conversation these two had on the academy's floor when Kaya was almost going to let her mask fall and the MC offered her to help in case she needs his help? She was on the brink of telling him what she is planning ... but a phone call to her from her family (father?) stopped her from doing so. There is a strong band between Kaya and MC. They respect each other and they might develop feelings for each other. But the dev should really start to focuse on this instead of concentrating on trifles.
