Faculty, in English, in a school setting. refers SPECIFICALLY to the staff members that work there and not the student body. The Principal, Vice Principal, nurse, secretary, cafeteria workers, teachers, professors, Dean (if it's a college or university), guiance counselors, the janitorial staff. Those are the faculty members. The students are not considered members of the faculty by the nature of the fact that they are THE STUDENTS.
Therefore if the game is called waifu faculty then the staff members should be the waifus. Otherwise if it's the students that are the waifus then call it waifu students or waifu class or waifu (something else that doesn't specifically refer to the employees working at the school).
