The answer is in the title. [Unity]

All those quality of life features that are required to make a good game? those require actual programming skill to make.
99% of game devs don't know how to program. If they did know how to program they would be using an open source alternative to unity (ex: godot).

Yet for some reason half of those non programmers insist on trying to program a game in unity. Which always fails in the exact same manner. Bugs for days and zero QoL features.

While if they had just used renpy instead they would have all those QoL features baked into the engine.
Yeah there is absolutely NOTHING in this game that required Unity.

Small guide how to unlock gallery in UPDATED Steam DEMO version (kinda 10.2 remastered)
Download dnSpy and launch it -> Open %\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\WANDERER Broken Bed Demo\Wanderer_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll file and go down to Assempy-CSharp.dll - "{} -" => GalleryAdultData and GalleryCardData

Change isLocked value from "public bool isLocked = true" to "public bool isLocked" for both data folders through (GalleryAdultData and GalleryCardData) using RMB - Edit Class (C#) :

Save the project (Ctrl + Shift + S) and make sure that your wanderer isn't running while saving, after saving your gallery will be open.

P.S. Since latest version doesn't have gallery (codex) this method is useful only for steam demo version, however it can be useful in 0.12 version (where they should add gallery back)

The one thing I dont get about these game devs. why the fuck waste your time and resources in this fucking skill tree that no one cares cuz its a fucking hentai game instead of working in resolving bugs

what is the difference between versions v0.9 and v0.11?
Why is the v0.9 version bigger than v0.11?
does version v0.9 have more content than v0.11?
or v0.11 has more content than v0.9, it's just that the size in v0.11 is compressed to 882 MB
No idea.
But looking at the news, .10 has some new mechanic and/or significant gameplay changes. So it's not a separate "part 2" but in-place replacement.
And .11 is 550 mb itself, 400 is bonus art.

There is nothing in this game that justified picking unity; AND NOT USING ANY OF THE VISUAL NOVEL SPECIFIC PLUGINS...

I get that there can be reasons to utilize Unity, like being more proficient in C# compared to Python (it's not like both of them are actually fairly easy, high level OO Languages...), or wanting to include more elaborate Game parts/ Minigames that would be difficult to create in RENPY.

That's kinda all the reasons there could be.

But I mean it was totally worth it, to deal with all the issues associated with Unity, and trying to hamstring a Visual novel into it (again without plugins mind you), because the turn based dungeon crawler side-content is INTEGRAL for the project AND THERE TOTALLY AREN'T A FEW DOZEN FREE TO USE TURN BASED COMBAT/ RPG PLUGINS FOR RENPY. /s

Honestly, the best course of action would be to port it over and redo it properly from the ground up in RENPY.

Imagine not having to fuck around with Day/Nigh cycles, Rollback, Save Slots, Misc. Settings for VN's, Windowed Modes, Stability issues, Item management, being able to Rename Characters etc. all because you use the objectively better engine.

Not to mention that RENPY doesn't take a cut and afaik is completely free.

Real problem with this game is the dev made it so you have to use cheats to see even a third of the scenes. The game really went to crap after he/she got greedy. Use a cheat to see a scene because of idiotic decisions and what made me stop playing this game.

1. save before conversation and try many choices until you get the right damn pattern to see a scene
2. every hour of game time.. you can't just advance time a scene will not trigger you have to walk into the damn screen. So you have to go into an area.. advance, go out of area one screen, go back. nothing new advance again and some events only trigger on specific days also so you have to do this for ever damn screen for every damn day. Dev did this so you have to pay him so you can get the cheats to see all scenes.

Why the fuck would anyone want to use a cheat in a game just to see scenes that is utterly STUPID!

That is a kinda rare worry for the indie devs, since they would need $200,000+ yearly revenue first, to pay the Unity fees.
I don't think these are the actual numbers, but let's just run with that for the sake of the argument.

A year has 12 months...
That means you reach that with roughly ~ 16k / Month.

Assuming you have a few different Tiers on Patreon etc. that total up to a median of ~10-15 bucks you'd only (using only very liberal here) need 1.6-1.1k Patrons which is a realistic number for some medium-sized projects to reach.

E.g.: Caribdis - 6k Patrons, Zanith - 2.8k, RNGeusEX - 2.3k; and the creators of this Game are already sitting at almost 700...

And that is only assuming Patreon income as a Median, and no other Income with the game from any other Platforms.

200k Annually isn't that big of a number regarding Gross Income.

We have fixed many bugs and are releasing a "mid" build. We're sorry if you ran into difficulties, but just remember how many things we update. So dealing with the issues, didn't leave you without it

  • A bug with dialog stopping in the "Magical Interview" quest was fixed
  • A bug with health potion in combat was fixed

Maybe that's the reason why these devs are not using Unity :WeSmart:
Anyway, the income is varies greatly - you can see same 6000 patrons providing either 15k or 30k, e.g. on graphtreon.
The wanderer devs do not hide the income and it is just $6120/m.

Anyway, I doubt the devs will fully rewrite the game at this point, even if Renpy arguably better by the other points.
