Fighting opponents won't give you xp. Completing missions does. So does going on hunts with Erik, studying your books in the evening and repeating some events such as helping Samantha cooking breakfast, but only in small amounts. Completing the missions is key.
any way to keep my right hand away from my keyboard, as it's obviously busy, by using the WASD keys instead of the arrow keys?

Open the game, then load your save, after that press F1 and a menu will pop-up, then you map your keyboard keys.
thanks, but that doesn't work; as far as I can tell the arrow keys aren't some of the possible keys to map in that menu.
can anyone help me in the quest "warlocking for dummies" i can't seem to find the last one where i have to go and active that spell? i manged to find the first two (one in the forest with all the elves and the second at the temple)

Hello, two questions.
How do you deal with hunger and gold in this game? buying 1 fish cost 3 gold and litteraly only gives me -3 hunger.
Also, when you have to meditate at some waterfall to learn one of the spells, where and how do you do that?

Off the top of my head...
Cultivate your garden. This will bring in money and raise your gardening skill.
Never eat the food ingridients. Use them for cooking. This will give better meals and raise your skill. (pro tip: If you're a novice cook, help Alice out in her kitchen when it's raining in the morning. You will learn faster this way)
Help Jenna collecting eggs. She will donate some to you.
Satisfy Carla at night (tuesday and wednesday). Next meal will be free (-10 hunger)
Join Erik on his hunts. Occasionally Jenna will bring meals (-10 hunger)
Once you are strong enough to beat Mabel, ask her for fresh milk.
