Apparently, there is a new bug is the latest (v0.336) version. The relationship with Melissa is reset during the new quest for her; most probably when her relationship is -supposedly- increased by 10 after the Velena/Sandra scene (i.e. set to 10, instead of being increased by 10).

Might be a good option the search up a walkthrough and do quests for characters you like and for main quests just look away.
But in all seriousness, I don't think it says "hetero avoidable" anywhere.
