Novice gardener = low chance of successful harvest. It seems there's almost a kind of logic at work here

It makes no sense. You want to know why? Because my gardening level is still 1, despite actually doing gardening. I have a farm and harvested crops multiple times. So why is my gardening still level 1? My cooking is level 10 and I hardly cook in the game. I mostly get free lunch from the aunt. My alchemy is level 8, which is understandable. How do you increase gardening, if running a farm isn't enough to level up?
Edit: From my farm, I grew and harvested 16 wild carrots, 20 orc grass, 8 mandragora, 5 tentacle cactus, 2 centaur's mint. Yet my gardening level is still 1. So what am I supposed to do here?

It's not about harvesting plants themself rather about 'tending the garden' - interact with the shovel to do that (not in rainy days)

go to alice than leave donot watch or flirt then go to juliet

As BillionGhosts said: work in your garden (click on the shovel) when it's not raining in the morning or daytime. This progresses time, but gives you ingredients which you can sell at Sebastian's. When doing this enough, your gardener profession level rises.

This game is incredibly unfair, how has it gotten this far? Seriously, this game is like Dark Souls with turn based combat. Everything in combat is annoying.

Early in the game they're a PITA indeed, at least until you know how to make Clear Mind potions or cast the Wicked Mind spell.

The changelog says what you need to do. " After Agnieszka asked you to make tea for Jason, talk to him (while he is still sitting there). After that go and make Energizing tea instead. " It's something you cook in Krowly's kitchen, it's not a potion
