Does anyone know why so many of these games are always packed full with such ugly fat bastard characters? For me thats like an instant yeah fuck you game I don´t wanna see that piece of crap doing stuff thats even worse than he looks.

It's simple. Most players of such games look themselves not too far from typical game ugly bastard. So that players can feel "he is literally me" shit. Though I am becoming ugly bastard myself (simply getting older lol) I agree with you on "don't wanna see that piece of crap".

No it's not about degrading. MC's get that design to be a self insert for the player. Many of the people in Japan that plays games like this do fall into the "ugly bastard" trope. Or at least view themselves that way.
Are you sure this is version 1.01? On the main screen it says 0.23... I don't know if got things wrong

Meh, they also do insane amount of games with fem protags who get raped, degraded, inseminated by unholy creatures etc. I hope that is not about self insertion because that would spell disaster for their country in the long run

The humiliation/degradation is 100% a huge part of it. For the vast majority of women, they're not going to find an "ugly bastard" attractive in any way to consider dating/marrying him even if he's super rich and/or successful. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of any "ugly bastard" characters where the "ugly bastard" is bad a sex. Someone might be able to think of a few, but in the overwhelming majority of cases the "ugly bastard" involve either corruption (whether through training someone who was a virgin or through ntr) or the woman is a prostitute. In almost all cases, the woman ends up climaxing from the sex and it's through the humiliation/degradation that the woman feels from having pleasurable sex with a man that society generals labels as undesirable cuz of his looks by that the subgrene was created. If it were primary self-insert, I don't think there would be so much attention to how the woman feels about the sex or that they're almost all are told from the female's perspective or from the guy getting cucked.
